Few interesting changes...
No Queensland Raceway round listed. Only Queensland round currently there is Indy.
Can't see anything other than Qld Raceway being the TBA. I'm also very glad to see Oran Park as the season finale, as opposed to Eastern Creek.

William Dale Jr 6 Oct 2007, 06:45 It's the season finale because it's also Oran Park's swansong. Quite sad, but at least it will go out with a bang. Should be interesting to see what they have planned for the four days.
Still hoping for Townsville :)
Said QR on the 7 telecast today...
Be good to see the Fujitsu series at sandown.
fordlover 6 Oct 2007, 17:22 i know there will be 35 odd thousand qld'rs peeved at QR if they don't get a round next year
2008 calender.
Quote from todays Courier Mail:
TC
" he (tetley) seems to think the circuit is the important ingrdient and not the act.I likern it to the Rolling Stones. If you've got them on stage you will sell tickets, but if you've just got a stage, not many people but tickets"
Intersting.
Will QR deliver the goods?
We have heard about the proposed exstensions,
QR and Lake side under the one Group.
Where does the investment $$$$ go?
I would say more than likley, QR might not be on the calender.
Where are the facilities??????
PI, 500 km race and 2 drivers = lots of big hits!
This has the potential to be built into a 'Classic' race.
Don't like the Philip Island 500. Bring back the Sandown 500!
agosling 7 Oct 2007, 15:00 As much as I will miss Sandown, PI is a far better racetrack and I think the racing will be fantastic, the pits will be a scary place though with driver changes.
Pro Racer 7 Oct 2007, 15:23 i like that calender and love the fact OP got the last round, a good send off.
Big_Trev 7 Oct 2007, 22:36 the pits will be a scary place though with driver changes.Spot on, they are motorbike pits.
Interesting to see TC showing the Deputy PM around Bathurst yesterday and being very vocal about Townsville.
Perhaps he should look at the opinion polls as I think he's talking to the wrong side at the moment :p
Peak Revs 8 Oct 2007, 05:41 And don't for a minute think that VESA gave Qld Raceway the flick, I am sure you will find it was the other way around, Tetly has been threatening it for years.
Clipsal = Special
Hamilton = will be special
Bathurst = Ultra Special
and now PI 500 = Ultra Special
The rest = the regular single file boredom unless wet.

Maybe he was sharing war stories about Dr John
Pro Racer 8 Oct 2007, 16:54 well Dr John had a decent hand in bringing in Get Stuffed Today so i think TC just returned the favour, and now TC and the deputy PM were probably sharing views on that.
Maybe he was sharing war stories about Dr John
Love your work GTR.....
Oh, rang my usual accomodation for the Winton round to make sure they booked me in automatically for the weekend and word has it that beds are filling fast in and around Benalla so for those of you looking to go next year you'd better start making phone calls now.

Much more fun staying in Shepparton and commuting :)

Maybe trackside sprinklers could be introduced. Computer programmed to turn on at random through the event.:)
Big_Trev 9 Oct 2007, 02:47 Maybe trackside sprinklers could be introduced. Computer programmed to turn on at random through the event.:)Winton has those between turns 9 and 10. ;)
Big_Trev 9 Oct 2007, 02:50 Much more fun staying in Shepparton and commuting :)I live in Shepparton and I stay over at a special little place within walking distance of the track. Can be a bit wet underfoot at times, but that is OK.;)
Much more fun staying in Shepparton and commuting :)
The good thing is that Trev isn't home that weekend after all the only good things to ever come out of Shep is the Midland & Goulburn Valley Highways :p
Good to see that in the provisional calendars released so far Sandown and Bathurst have no clashes with the BTCC, DTM, WTCC, and ALMS, so the potential for international co-drivers is higher next year.
Andy Priaulx, Alain Menu, Yvan Muller, David Brabham, and Ryan Briscoe (if he stays with the ALMS) would all be available to have another shot at the enduros.
Average Punter 9 Oct 2007, 04:51 I've been on the phone all morning trying to get accommodation for Phillip Island for our six punters for the 500.
If you think no-one wants to go to PI in September, think again.
The place is just about booked solid already!!!
Bathurst clashes with the nascar busch (nationwide) series though!

You don't know where to look, clearly :p
Nope, I'm not telling until I have a bed booked too ..... but keep looking.

Pure carny from TC the gypsy

Not going to give up JDI, but I will wait until after the MotoGP's over.
All the accommodation people seem a little frazzled at the moment...

" he (tetley) seems to think the circuit is the important ingrdient and not the act.I likern it to the Rolling Stones. If you've got them on stage you will sell tickets, but if you've just got a stage, not many people but tickets"Typical comment from the mealy mouthed TC.
I remember a comment made by someone attached to the event last year when a promoter was arguing the point on some ridiculous issue that the V8 people wanted done the evening before the event was due to start, the comment went. "They (VESA) might own the jets, but they have forgotten who owns the aircraft carrier"
TC might want to remember that he might be able to bluff State and Federal Government politicians, but he is really struggling to pull the wool over the eyes of the permanent track owners.
Why do you think VESA is the promoter at Phillip Island and not the Fox's. Lindsay told them to bugger off back in late 2003, hence no race on the Island in 2004. The only way they get to use the Island is for them (VESA) to hire the place and run it themselves.
GreaseMonkey99 10 Oct 2007, 05:47 Camping at the Island will be a nice addition, the wind and cold will make for some interesting times.
Big_Trev 10 Oct 2007, 07:10 Bit like Winton, but without the wind - LOL
GTRMagic 10 Oct 2007, 08:44 The 2008 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series:

April 4-6: Wakefield Park, NSW
June 7-9: Sandown Raceway, Melbourne
July 18-20: TBA
August 1-3: Winton, Victoria
October 9-12: Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Bathurst
December 4-7: Oran Park, Sydney
AA is claiming this week that the development series may also appear at the AGP meeting....
Should be great for the development series teams to showcase themselves in front of a mega audience... but... it should really be a championship round
Pro Racer 10 Oct 2007, 10:49 IMO it should be a championship round first of all and maybe have a Clipsal format or a mini enduro.

So too is Wangaratta and Darwin
Matthew Ronke 10 Oct 2007, 14:16 Traveworld Shepparton did a great job finding people accomodation for the winton round last year, talk to vivienne if you need some acomodation.

racer69 10 Oct 2007, 19:08 IMO it should be a championship round first of all and maybe have a Clipsal format or a mini enduro.
As much as some (like eNews previously) talk it up, full-on enduro's of any sort will never happen on the Grand Prix weekend.
The V8 Supercar site states that
Queensland Raceway returns to the V8 Supercar Supercar Championship Series again in July 18-20 in 2008 with a one year deal after successful negotiations were recently concluded.
Big_Trev 24 Oct 2007, 21:54 That is good new for the Brisbanians
The V8 Supercar site states that
there is nothing in the article this refers too about it apart from TBA removed from the dates list, only the headline on the front page.:rotate: Also of note in the dates lists the Fujitsu is still TBA for that date.

They were busy... a long lunch in Cavill Avenue is far more important ;)
Big_Trev 25 Oct 2007, 11:43 Does anyone think that VESA will release an accurate and complete calendar for the first time soon, just about every year there is some change or incompletion that needs fixing before it is set in concrete.
GTRMagic 25 Oct 2007, 12:10 Well the report in AA clearly stated that the development series was headed to the AGP.... yet, unsurprisingly, several high profile development series teams know nothing about it
Big_Trev 25 Oct 2007, 21:33 Now there is a surprise
Average Punter 25 Oct 2007, 22:45 Does anyone think that VESA will release an accurate and complete calendar for the first time soon, just about every year there is some change or incompletion that needs fixing before it is set in concrete.
Interesting little snippet on BigPond's Access All Areas during Indy. Had Crompo interviewing TC at his fancy pants office in V8 la-la-land in Surfers. TC went to great pains to point out that he had a staff of 50 and there were plenty of "young" people in the "organisation" but that his main role was dealing with circuit promoters and sponsors.
Seems to me that when it comes to these calendar delays and stuff-ups, that's where the buck stops. With TC himself.
Big_Trev 25 Oct 2007, 23:22 Well that is interesting, because I know for a fact that a certain racetrack deals with people other than TC every year for round negotiations - interesting.
Wouldn't TC only work with circuits that he could make the most money out of ie. Street Circuits.
Big_Trev 28 Oct 2007, 22:35 Spot on Pete
