Michael Schumacher! TGF had an extended test session on the championship winning Ducati. Randy Mamola provided some coaching. His best time was five seconds off of Pedrosa's lap record. Not bad!

Maybe we should start a rumour that Stoner is going to test for Ferrari.
That should generate a few pages of posts on the F1 forum. :)

Casey's already done that himself:

Five seconds off is very impressive; particularly when one considers that Melandri finished his first day on the Ducati two seconds off Stoner (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63834).

He's at it again! He finished on the podium as well!

Naturally, the alway unhappy little French guy, Turt, Todt, whatever his name is, doesn't like it.

stuff todt, Shumi is great and i for one would not complain if he turned up either for a guest ride or a season in GP, SBK or super sport.

Too old to race GP!! Its ll about him enjoying himself and enjoying being Michael Schumacher and the benefits of being him!!

I am sure Marlboro dont mind either, or SanDisk, or Bridegestone, or Alice, or Shell!

He used a fireblade, with sponsorless carbonfibre fairings, so I don't think the above sponsors have an opinion. Alpinestars will be happy though :)

He should get a different helmet, this shape is just awfull.

That cbr is pure carbon porn.

I wouldn't hold my breath.
Apparently although he finished 3rd, his lap times were 6+ seconds slower than the first two riders.

Yeah, the first 2, were professional riders, namely Andy Meklau (ex-WSBK?) and IDM champ Martin Bauer. IDM (German superbike championship) isn't on the same standard as say BSB, but it aint bad. The other riders in the Racing for Fun round were all amatures.

I heard there were less than 1000 spectaters. Still, Schummy refused to collect his trophy on the podium... He must have been to busy parking his bike somewhere on the track.

now that he's unemployed he doesn't have money to build another extension for his new trophies :)

Exactly on a bike with an extra 400cc!

The world is safe from this nonsense I think...

Exactly on a bike with an extra 400cc!

It's quite easy to be slower on a more powerful bike when you're not a pro rider...

But I think his performance in the 990 Superduke cup shows he can ride. The only nonsense here is the media suggesting he's one step away from a Moto GP debut. When in reality, he's just out having a bit of fun. I was never a Schumacher fan. The fact that he enjoys riding a bike, which I also enjoy, gives me a new appreciation for him.

Surly it's just PR, but Michael Schumacher rode the GP8 at Mugello yesterday. He replaced test rider Vittoriano Guareschi, who crashed. Schumacher ran 42 laps with a best time of 1:58.

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Apr/080403c.htm

Just for giggles, fastest race lap during last year's GP was 1:50.357 set by Dani Pedrosa.

It has to be said if its a PR machine its doing a fine job!!

But you do get the impression that Michael is just getting away with as much as he can, I think its brilliant actually, can you imagine Mansell or Prost doing this!!

I am not a big fan of the Schu to be honest, but his recent conversion bodes well!!

No all we need is for him to tell everyone to get rid of TC and all teh electronics!

I am not a Schummy fan either, mainly because of my bike background, his argey-bargey ways just rub me the wrong way. It goes against my biking ethics of racing, and his chopping etc for me just showed how being cocconed in a carbon fibre tub can make one forget how this sort of thing would have had different consequences for drivers of past eras...there, my little opinion over.

so, 8 secs off the pace, still has to be something--I suspect any of us with riding experience would have trouble doing that. The power and speed of a motogp bike must be mind boggling, I know I cant even imagine what it would be like.

still doesnt mean I like the guy more....

His first fall! :)

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2008/april/14-20/apr1608michaelschumachersuffersfirstmotorcyclecrash/

I hope he's got the money to pay for all the damage :(

djb
17 Apr 2008, 16:52
hope he didnt get hurt, falls off a bike can be funny, like skiing, one call fall off at a good speed and just be sore, but one can fall off at a low speed and bust an arm or something...if he was injured we would have heard about it by now.

Who is that with number 77?? :) This picture was taken in the 2nd race of the German Superbike round at Oschersleben. In the first race Schummy finished 28th, a lap down, starting from 37th after trouble in qualy.

Schummy finished 22nd in the first race. He must be a well occupied guy, also having to sort out the FIM winners cup :s  :tumble:

Oh, he had a DNF in race 2.

I know one of the guys racing in the IDM. He races an R1, in an underfunded team. He finished 25th in the first race, he won't be happy to be beaten by a pensioner...
