I have to sadly inform the motorsport community that Alan Everitt quietly passed away this morning after a long fight against cancer.
He will be remembered, as a Borough 19 MC member, for his exploits in the Porsche 911 and 924 series, as well as his antics in his red Mk1 HT Racing Escort. He had graduated to single seaters, a few years ago, successfully racing a F Vauxhall, Formula Ireland and Ralt F3 cars in the Monoposto series.
He was recently out as a guest driver in the Mazda MX5 series.
He recently purchased an XR2 with a view to competing again in the DMN Salooon car series in 2008.
I wish to offer my condolences to his wife and children and let them know that Alan will be sorely missed.

Very sad news. I barely knew him, but he offered me so much encouragement and advice regarding racing over the last 18 months, and was always willing to give advice and tips to anyone. Such a likeable guy. I for one will miss him around the paddocks.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends
Alan Everet will be sorely missed by all in the Monoposto paddock. Alan was a very friendly character, always willing to offer advice and very enthusiastic about his sport even when things are going against him. He was often controversial with some opinions and some of his wheeling and dealing brought a smile to our faces as im sure in was very much tongue in cheek.
I don’t think im alone in saying he was one of the faces you sought out when roaming the paddock for a chat.
Alan you will be missed.
May I send my condolences to Bronwen and family from Brian and myself.

Alan was known for his wheeling and dealing, and as long as you knew him, you knew how to negotiate with him. Eat your heart out Tom Walkinshaw, Alan was your equal!!
He ws very competitive and was sad to have to give up single seaters due to his illness.
What a shock to read this. I met Alan a couple of times last year when we were both racing at Lydden - he was trying to find some more pace in his Formula Ireland-drived Monoposto car, I was trying to find my way in my first (and only :-() season of racing. He was very friendly and helpful - without being prompted he gave me tips on setup and even offered to come and help me at a test day. His wife handed out cups of tea from their motorhome. A really super guy who loved his racing.
Sincere condolences to his family and to everyone who knew him rather better than I did.
