mini sprinter

Hi, i have just completed my first year in motorsport sprinting a mini. As im running in the sports libre class i needed a logbook for the car and the scrutineer suggested a doorbar be fitted, but to bolt one in instead of welding as it would invalidate the certification of the cage.
My question is this, Next year i intend to build a spaceframed mini. Once the frame has been made how do i go about getting it certified or do i have to buy a pre-formed cage and then add to it.
Thanks for any help

If you call MIRA on 024 7635 5000 and ask for Oliver Tomlin, he'll be able to advise you on ways and means of getting a cage certified as he's just about the only guy authorised by the MSA to approve them at the moment. It's not as expensive a process as you might imagine. Ol's also a nutcase that races stupidly powerful hillclimbers. All-round top bloke. :)

Mini
When you have planned your space frame contact the MSA tech department, they will be able to look at the outline of your plans and give you some pointers. When you have built it they can send someone round or you can go to them and get a cert for it. But like you were told before if you weld it then your cert is no longer valid.

I wasn't aware a roll bar needs to be certified unless it was for FIA races (Is that Libre?)
I thought they just had to be MSA spec.

Thats what i thought.
Anyway, to add a bolt on door bar to an existing cage would require weld on brackets surely.
Would that invalidate any certification?.

Unless one were to use the rather dated method of a wrap around strap.

Does your tech rules allow bolt on door bars?
Ours do not. We need two or three NASCAR style door bars.
