Which one kept you awake in 2007?

A bit of a lean year, exciting GP-wise, this year, but that only makes it easier to start this thread. What was your favourite Motogp race this year?

Qatar: where Stoner lost his virginity, but never his cool. Beating Rossi be it on superior machinery.

China: where Stoner beat Rossi again with the Ducati power and not cracking under the pressure. Instead VR had to ride on the edge and he was the one making the mistake (6 laps from the end).

Le Mans: Vermeulen showing who’s the current rain meister in Motogp. Guintoli showed for a brief period he and the Dunlops can also ride at the front. Hayden proved that he can also crash spectacularly.

Mugello: Who was the last person before VR winning this GP? Rossi winning with the slow Yamaha on a track with a very long straight after making a poor start. Barross beating Stoner and getting on the podium for the final time in his career.

Barcelona: Stoner beating Rossi again. Rossi having to catch up with the two youngsters after making a poorish start again, being able to pass CS in the bendy stuff, but Stoner answered his every move. Pedrosa was there to watch.

Donington: Stoner showing he can win in the rain. Edwards on the podium, beating Rossi!

Assen: Stoner disappearing in the distance, but Rossi starting from 11th after a bad qualifying effort, hauling him back in and eventually passing Casey to win his best race of the year.

Laguna Seca: WHAT LAGUNA SECA??? Yes, probably the most boring race of the season (I never watched Brno), but Stoner was so strong here, he was in a league of his own, that he deserves this race to be mentioned.

Estoril: A great dog fight to the end between Rossi and Pedrosa, much like Barcelona, but this time it was Stoner who got to have the best seat in the house with clutch problems.

Motegi: Up until it started to rain, this looked like being a great race. Stoner not having his best qualifying on Saturday launched the Duc to the front while Rossi again made a poor start. He caught up, making some great moves, proving (again after Portugal) the Michelins weren’t that bad. Than the rain came. Capirossi made a great call pitting for wet tyres early and winning the race. VR went moto crossing after pitting too late therefore handing the World Title to Casey Stoner. De Puniet and Elias also made it to the podium, while Guintoli was 4th!

Valencia: Yes, Pedrosa (and Honda) also won 2 races this year.

Barcelona for me.
A classic dogfight to the end, with the better man on the day, coming out in front.

A lot of questions were answered that day IMO.

Where the WSBK option??? :D

Barcelona, Assen and Estoril are the standouts for me. But if I have to pick just one it would be Barcelona.

I thought you were gonna do the WSBK thread, you being the 'race official' and all that... ;)

Barcelona was fun, Motegi was the high point for me personally, Le Mans was pretty wacky, Estoril was good.

Err.

That's it.

I received the Duke Motogp 2007 official review dvd during the holidays. Again slightly disappointing, not having the best commentating team on it, not showing enough racing but to much touristy crap from around the track!

Anyway, after watching it I voted for the Assen race. The best man (of that day) won on pure talent from 11th spot! The reason I didn't vote for the Barcelona race was because the dogfight between Rossi and Stoner didn't start until 8 laps from the end. Before that the racing wasn't actually that exciting. The Assen race was exciting from start to (almost) finish.
It has nothing to do with the fact that the track is only a 30mins ride from my place...:innocent:
