I thought a historics class with 10-12 cars after the rest of the field would be great at the WRC event. It'd give some motivation to hang around till after the Fiestas!
I'm mainly talking about old Escorts/etc but some Group B would be nice! Everyone knows they're still hugely popular with the fans.
Whose decision would this be, the FIA or would it be with the BRC?
Do any other WRC rallies have anything like this?

At the super special in the grounds of Stormont there were several 'demonstration' runs by historically interesting cars. Personally I thought they were more entertaining than the WRC cars and this may be why they don't get invited!

I remember a BRC live event at Mallory a couple of years ago when the slowly sideways Group B cars performed. They didn't exactly show off the BRC's current crop of Group N cars in a good light! :rofl:
If you remember the RAC used to have a historic section running ahead of the main rally until a few years ago. Then one year a Hillman Imp deposited most of its oily bits on the road right in front of the main WRC pack... with predicatable results!! Suddenly historics became less welcome after that.
The slowly sideways cars can't run due to insurance issues - they can run at events in ireland and in Europe but not in the UK. Demonstration runs at things like Rallyday, BRC Live and Goodwood have their own specific insurance cover - the MSA don't like the Group B cars playing :(
As for historics - there's nothing stopping them running other than maybe the sheer number of cars involved if you add more in. Maybe that just makes it impractical, also not sure if the stages would be up to it? What was the damage after all the WRC's had been through?

I remember the IMP it "took out" Tommi Makinen! However there would be nothing to stop the Historics running after the WRC cars so long as the stage wasn't going to be used for a second run through!
