One of the fastest men in the world has passed. I will be dating myself somewhat but Art Arfons was one of the icons of speed in my youth. It is a sad thing when they pass from of lives. Just heard about Art Arfons' passing... of all the outright landspeed holders Art was my favourite, someone who did it all with his own hands and the help of a few friends, without much money, and made it work. RIP Art.

This guy was a total hero of ine, have read many books about speed record maing and he was the ultimate hero for people of the time, the complete antithesis of Breedlove.

And he continued competing in tractors for a long time.

But what a full life he led, amazing!
