Not sure if this is the right board to post this in.

Rafael Sperafico was killed in a crash in the Brazilian Stock Light race at Interlagos.

Yesterday, on Light series of Brazilian Stock Cars at Interlagos, Rafael Sperafico died from craneal traumatism after his car was spun and then crushed by the one of Renato Russo.
A very sad news for Brazilian motorsport and specially to the Sperafico family, who lost one of their nine racers of their clan.

RIP Rafael Sperafico.

accident was at jucao so i doubt russo had anywhere else to go if it's where i think it happened. it seems sadly a tragic replay of the Keith Odor accident at AVUS in 1995

Have moved this thread to Stock Car as it's not European Tourers.

I suppose we can no longer refer to the family as the "Crashing Speraficos." It's always sad when a member of a racing family loses his life. As much as they have been criticized for their lack of success, the Speraficos obviously have a genuine passion for racing. I hope that this tragedy will not diminish that.

That was a dreadful accident. The driver's side door is the most prone area on a touring car, and sadly, Russo made a violent, square-on hit.

It reminds me Kristensen's life saving luck, or maybe I should say good reflex of blokes who hit him.

He was actually the younger brother of the twins (Ricardo and Rodrigo) and cousin of Alex.

I remember him from Euro3000, he really came across as nice guy with a positive attitude. He smiled a lot :( Rest in Peace!

they really need to include some run-off area to that corner at Interlagos, the same wall was causing a rather major Webber crash few years ago (and Nando crashed heavily too running trhu his debris).

That's not a bad idea alonso11. If there was no tyre barrier Rafa would survive the crash.
