Sprint / Hillclimb cars

After sprinting at my first event yesterday at Goodwood, one thing struck me.. how many decent racing / prepared road cars there is out there (which don't compete in actual racing!!).. And there's a lot of people who can pedal their car pretty quickly as well..

I turned up in my road MG Midget, and was the only competitor there who hadn't spent big bucks on suspension or engine - serious cash at there.

Also saw the best prepared 1980's F Fordie and Formula Vauxhall Lotus car I've ever seen..

Is this the same around the country / world??

Dan, hope you had a good day out there.

I live in Australia and I often spectate at club level sprints. Time and again, I'm amazed by how many well driven and really well prepared "street" cars take part in club sprinting. So many of them are ready or alamost ready to race, yet they don't.

Cost is one issue, effort and commitment are another and some people are very happy speeding 'round an empty track but not at all keen on sharing the road with 30 other maniacs.
