It's less than two weeks away so time for a thread on the event.
The barriers and grandstands are being put into place and the local media is slowly starting to talk about it happening rather than it's possible limited future ;)
I'm a flaggie once again so will be there all three days.
JeremySmith 4 Mar 2008, 03:41 You are very fortunate! I am sure it will be a great spectacle, and I hope you have loads of fun. I am looking forward to it very much myself..:)

Three days Knakkers? Seems you got the easier workload. :rotate:
I went there today to pick up my uniform, and the pit straight is going up nicely, as is the back section of the track.
My tip to win is Raikkonen from a fast finishing Hamilton, and either Massa or Heikki rounding out the podium.
Webber out on lap 23 with gearbox trouble ;)
Mick
Pro Racer 4 Mar 2008, 05:20 well i think the BMW/RBR/Renault/Williams fight will be closer this year and will be great, but for the win i'd say Raikkonen the Hamilton and i think Heikki will pip Massa for the last step on the podium.

Oops, remember to engage brain when posting, that should read 4 days :p
Popped over to pick up my credentials this arvo and was out there a couple of times last week for work and it's all progressing nicely although as one of my passengers did comment last week that "It's all starting to look a bit old and tired isn't it" referring to the temporary infrastructure being set up.

As opposed to F1 in general...........

Crikey, didn't someone just before you post that...?

I'll try to go there on Friday and take some photos, and give me a couple of weeks and I will take a video camera for a drive round the track when it is in street form.
Mick
Knowlesy 4 Mar 2008, 13:16 Yeah, let's have some pictures! :)
This could be a thread following the build-up of the track and the excitement. :)
Last2LiftOff 4 Mar 2008, 13:19 And a webcam.
bludvl_x19 4 Mar 2008, 13:24 And a webcam.
C'mon, I still have to be at uni this week. A webcam is probsbly out of the question for me, cos I don't know how to do it. :rotate: I will try to make time on Friday to travel the 7ks through city traffic to get there.
On a side note, for all you trainspotters out there, page 167 of the official program shows a (very old) photo of a Ten-Tenther 'Getting closer to the action' :)

ummm no, same podium yes but different post altogether for the first sentence if i believed the podium was going to be different i would say that, but i don't think too many are going to disagree and a few posts that are similar to mine and the above one, Raikkonen and Hamilton will have a close battle of their own and Heikki and Massa not to far behind will have a close battle of their own will be the storey of the year IMO.

Around 2004 I reckon, haven't donned the yellow overalls since October 2005.
I did get a complaint about covering the signwriting on the back of the ute from the ute owner when I scanned and sent him a copy of the page :p

for the past couple of years i've been meaning to do a time lapse photo sequence (ie a photo every day over the 2 months setup) of the track, on my drive to and from work every morning... The track is still open at peak hour, though the barriers have been going up, and the rumble strips dug up for a couple of months now... big piles of kitty litter sitting waiting to go, grandstands mostly assembled.
I will take a video of the track on my way home tonight around the back section, probably following some dang camry or something - the bane of my existence!....

You'd better hurry up if the rumours are correct and the 2010 event will be the last you've only got two more years to do it :rotate:

1) Heikki
2) Ant
3) Sutil
;)
Knowlesy 6 Mar 2008, 19:51 Go to the real prediction thread you lot! ;)
rocketracer 17 Mar 2008, 03:37 :double: :double:
rocketracer 17 Mar 2008, 03:38 some people in this thread asked for some vids of the albert park track before race day. I made a video on my phone driving home from work, but the quality was ordinary, and it didnt go for long enough and was starting to take too much effort... So, as with all things in life: if something is taking too much work and hassle, go to the trusty internet and chances are someone would have gone to the trouble for you! and sure enough, someone had!:
some guy riding his bike around albert park about 2 weeks ago - take a look for any who're interested:

Thanks rocktracer. Nice 6.30 lap.
Noticed quite bad sun strike form this footage but didn't notice much in the race myself, did anyone else notice it from the race? Must have been at similar times
BTW - Mr E what on earth are you thinking ??? How can you scrap such a pitcuresque track. Bone head.
Born Racer 17 Mar 2008, 10:11 Bone head. What a brilliant word, or word combination:)
When I was looking for an accurate description of Coulthard yesterday on here, I found myself using this despite not recalling ever using it before. Maybe I picked it up from you if you've ever said it before.
