N.A-D.R 27 Mar 2008, 07:31 Daniel is very quick indeed. In race 2 he had a very bad start from pole and dropped to 21st and drived his heart out and finised 5th, only 0.1 off the podium. I think Daniel will win the championship.

N.A-D.R 20 Sep 2008, 06:11 Daniel Ricciardo will own this series! :) Hes very talented driver. and i wont be suprised if he wins the Eurocup series too!:D
Well, his Eurocup challenge has hit a bit of a hiccup lately...
N.A-D.R 22 Sep 2008, 06:17 Yeah, which has been very unlucky, nurburgring he couldn't do practise because he wasn't allowed to as he did f3 euro at the track. So that hurt him alot for the qualifying but he still got a podium. Than Le Mans he was doing OK but had a engine problem and had to change engine for race 2, which mean't he could not start race 1. Not been good times for him resently, but estoril is a track he likes alot, he will bounce back now!:)
And Ash Walsh got his best result of the season in 7th place at Le Mans too...
N.A-D.R 22 Sep 2008, 10:45 And Ash Walsh got his best result of the season in 7th place at Le Mans too...
Good on him;)
I hope he can do another season next year possibly in Eurocup or something. he is a pretty good driver, i just hope he doesn't do 1 or 2 seasons in europe then goes home and heads the v8 supercar path... :(
N.A-D.R 28 Sep 2008, 12:15 Daniel Ricciardo just won race 1 of the WEC championship at Estoril today. He also got both the Pole positions, so he will start race 2 on pole, which is pretty certain he will win it unless something bad happens... Go Daniel! :)
Roberto Merhi won race 2 by 3 seconds over Daniel Ricciardo...
Points after 9 rounds...
1. Daniel Ricciardo - 91
2. Roberto Merhi - 79
3. Andrea Caldarelli - 57
4. Albert Costa - 36
5. Jean-Eric Vergne - 34
N.A-D.R 29 Sep 2008, 14:26 im pretty sure he has won the WEC championship now. I just hope he can win against Bottas in the Eurocup to win that championship! :)
Merhi took the win at spa for race 1 with Ricciardo 2nd. It now makes the championship with Daniel Ricciardo 1st with 132 points and Merhi 2nd with 122 points. It will be an exciting fight to the finish.
Ricciardo took the pole position and a championship point. Top of the grid is Ricciardo, Caldarelli, Vergne, Mehri and the championship points prior to the penultimate race are Mehri 164, Ricciardo 162, Caldarelli 102.
Jean Marc Menahem caused red flag just 7 seconds before end of the session.
N.A-D.R 19 Oct 2008, 02:34 Daniel Ricciardo also has pole for race 2. with Merhi down in 6th.
Been away for a couple of weeks & i couldnt believe that Merhi has taken the points lead - whats going on Daniel
Should be an exciting final round
N.A-D.R 19 Oct 2008, 12:37 yeah Daniel has been in a very bad slump lately, but has come out and taken both poles this weekend and has won race 1. Starts race 2 later today on pole with Merhi 6th. Which is a very good chance of winning the championship.
Unfortunately, Daniel lost the Eurocup championship title by around 2 or 3 points. Bottas won the championship.
runshaw 19 Oct 2008, 18:41 Ricciardo is the WEC champion champion, great result. To finish 2nd in the Eurocup is also no mean feat. I think he has won a total of 14 Formula Renault races this season, thats an incredible tally. If you add up the wins that Hartley and Alguersuari scored last year COMBINED in both the Eurocup and Italian series, they scored 8 wins between them. So I am in no doubt that Daniel will have a great season in F3 next year, just as his 2 Red Bull colleagues did this year in Britain!
It will be nice to see him in SG Formula and Bottas at ART in F3ES next year, as I expect they will be.
Lets just hope they don't go the same way as two of the previous FR dominators; Ammermuller and Albuquerque.
Francis Albert 19 Oct 2008, 22:44 Ammermuller dominated for most of the year but then did a pretty incredible job of losing both titles at the end of the season! Kobayashi won that year.

Yeah he did a great job. I expect him to be in F3 Euro next year, but we will see.

OK, maybe slightly off-topicish, but Bottas won 17 races this season (in Eurocup and NEC) :)
runshaw 20 Oct 2008, 14:59 Yes that is off topic. I wasn't talking about Bottas, this thread is about the WEC.
ivanalesi 20 Oct 2008, 20:56 Bottom line, both are awesome drivers. I think Merhi is quite good too, and I would love to see these 3 and Bianchi in one team fighting for the championship.
N.A-D.R 21 Oct 2008, 08:03 OK, maybe slightly off-topicish, but Bottas won 17 races this season (in Eurocup and NEC) :)
NEC doesn't really count much, He only has to beat his 2 team-mates to win. The other teams and drivers are no match, so it's not much challenge, in WEC you have Sg formula and Epsilon. Plus Bottas didn't have any of the drivers who challenged him in the Eurocup. In WEC you had Ricciardo, Merhi and Calderelli. But still is really really good to win 17 races.
glad daniel won atleast 1 championship this year  - looking forward to seeing where he ends up racing in 2009...
