I have been informed today, that Millers CVL is no longer on the menu according to the MSA (via an eligibility scrutineer).
Our series has permitted it's use for five years, and our 2008 regs have NO ADDITIVES where it once said "Millers CVL is permitted".
So, what's going on?

Get on to Sunoco, they do 104 octane fuel. They can deliver and it works out about the same as SL with Millers.
Hi Peter,
Sunoco FR (102) - £2.47/litre, 20L = £50ish. (+VAT)
S-U/L = £1.10/litre, 20L=£22.00 + pot of CVL @ £5ish = £27. (inc VAT)
Not same.
Our cars will run on regular (95RON), but there is an issue with UK fuel. Since the inception of the series, people who have tried to run on bottom bucket u/l have had engine failures. Even running on pure super u/l. Since running with CVL, there have been no engine failures.
The fuel companies say "it's the same as the American spec". The Americans say "your fuel is different to ours".
It's not for the octane increase, it's the upper cylinder lubricant properties.
More octane won't make any difference as our ECU's are all sealed, and they don't automagically adapt to higher octane. The ignition maps are cast in stone, as are the fuel maps.
The last email from our scrutineer said "someone at the MSA must have missed it in the regs in previous years".
That's why some Britcar teams run just about anything that smells like it might burn, just as long as it doesn't let the engine blow. I know of cars that run Sunoco 260GT-Plus (109 octane) - and they need it!

I didn't say it was cheap!
Turns out the scrutineer didn't know what CVL was.
He now knows it's a lead substitute, which is allowed in the blue book.
All is happy in the garden again!
