I am thinking of getting into racing and was considering the porsche series just wondering what people thought of the series it looks quite good and what type of car to buy i quite like the 996 cars are they expensive to buy and run and what should i look out for also is it a big buget series
Cor blimey! If you really want to do this you need a big cheque book. 'Big' being a relative term of course.
But you aint really in the right place here.
This is for single seaters, which is a car you can only get one seat into, as opposed to a car with a single seat, but into which you could fit more than one seat :D:D
Anyway,
I dont know a lot about the Porsche Series Ireland, but I would imagine if you dont have at least £20k sitting on deposit its not really feasible. Notions of racing the 944 turbo you see for sale at £5k in autotrader are all very well until the thing calves on the back straight, leaving you with a rebuild cost of the same again, never mind all the preparation and running costs.
Why not look at those F5 thingys, they are probably faster and a real race car and have to be cheaper to run.

Open Porkers put on a good show at Mondello today, good racing from a variety of cars. As for budget, I'm sure you can pick up a relatively cheap 944 and join in for the fun. I also believe that there was a VW Bug that ran in some of the very, very first rounds (a few years ago) that claimed eligability as it had been designed by Porsche.
