2009 engine is brand-new 3.4 liter V8 engine.
This engine will be used in Super GT(GT500) and Formula Nippon.
In Super GT, this engine is used with the air restrictor.
In Formula Nippon, this engine is used with the rotational speed limiter.

Engines for both the top series?! Very, very effective way of keeping costs sensible and dubling up on development feedback I would've thought?

So is the builder is Swift as in the firm that built Andretti's CART cars 10 years ago?

2009 engine was separately developed by Toyota and honda.
There is a rumor that Nissan was not able to develop 09 engines for the budget shortfall.
