URGH! MOT time.RIKB 4 Jun 2001, 21:01 Car went in todat for its annual check up! It passed :) After me parting with £150.00 :( Oh well such is life... Ray Bell 5 Jun 2001, 01:12 One guy I used to get my inspections from used to say: "Your car doesn't get an inspection every year, it gets a resurrection!" Anyone who's battled the parallel ailments of poverty and rust incursion will understand... elephino 6 Jun 2001, 13:32 While I've only owned one car that would have needed a battle to go through rego, I didn't own it long enough. I'll go with a short one of my car, before it was mine, getting its pink slip. The mechanic went to look under the bonnet, stuck his hand in to get the latch and leapt about 5 feet backwards as a huge huntsman spider crawled, rather quickly, out from under the bonnet and parked on top. The guy wouldn't go near the car :) bella 6 Jun 2001, 14:09 french car... 3 year mot.... say no more... :) but my mum's suzuki failed because of a dodgy windscreen wiper (hello? it's only about 6 inches long anyway?!), and a slightly dodgy bearing in one of the wheels. Bluebottle 6 Jun 2001, 20:37 An M.o.t Tester failed my Dutton because he thought the drivers door was too rusty. It's a fiberglass body- the doors are Escort doors skinned in fiberglass- the rust is not visible from the outside and is not a danger. I took it somewhere else, it passed without a problem! Ray Bell 7 Jun 2001, 01:10 Friend of mine once took a really nice Peugeot 203 through, and with a grimace watched as the guy checked underneath for rust, poking energetically with a screwdriver (he hated this bit, seeing the proofkoting being damaged by these idiots!) when suddenly the screwdriver went straight through! Home he went cut out the offending section of floor, welded in a panel and then realised that beneath that proofkote lay the mount for the master cylinder... on left hand drive models... the hole was supposed to be there! He took the piece back to the Registry and told the bloke off. |
