Last2LiftOff 1 May 2008, 13:46 Thanks for that Pericu. Didn't stumble across any live timing anywhere by chance did you? :D
VdG must be on something, wow.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=4559
sort of -ish weather forecast for the weekend... so that'll be rain then ;)
In fact, in the last 15min of the sesion has started raining. It's Spa, and all knows what can happen in this circuit. Maybe the rain is the only form for stop Van der Garde? because he is very fast, 2'03"664 in the first sesion, wow.
For livetiming you can try here: http://intranetwsr.alkamelsystems.com/live.html
but I don't see it.
Last2LiftOff 1 May 2008, 14:55 Yeah Pericu, seems to work good, esp. with Wickens P1. Cheers.
Edit: just pipped...KTR :p
I haven't been able to find the whole weekend schedule, but here are the important timings:
Saturday 3rd May
09:30 - 09:50 - Qualifying (Group B)
09:55 - 10:15 - Qualifying (Group A)
11:05 - 11:20 - Superpole
14:10 - 14:55 - Race 1 (20 laps)
Sunday 4th May
13:50 - 14:35 - Race 2 (20 laps)
And here are the current championship standings after Monza (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_World_Series_by_Renault_season#Drivers).
P1 Motorsport have really hit the sweet spot with the new car so far this year. VDG is absolutely flying and Pippa Mann hasn't been too shabby either. If VDG can be as consistent as he was last year then it will really take something special to stop him winning the title.
Although he failed to score at Monza, Baguette was very fast there and with Spa being his home round he could well be the closest challenger to VDG this weekend.
My tip for this round is Borja Garcia. We haven't seen the best of him yet this season, but he did win here in 2006 for RC and he has got extensive knowledge of the circuit so I think he'll be right at the front this weekend.
kerrmanningjarv 1 May 2008, 15:14 Grr why does the live timing only work sometimes?
wannab-aracer 1 May 2008, 18:54 Van Der Garde quickest in afternoon test ........ can anyone stop him ?
Afternoon test report avaliable at autosport.com
Van Der Garde quickest in afternoon test ........ can anyone stop him ?
It appears not. Today he was fastest in both 45-minute Free Practice sessions, meaning he has been fastest in every session since they arrived at Spa - quite amazing consistency if you ask me.

From all the reports I've read, it sounds like it was a very dramatic Race at Spa today - Bertrand Baguette won in front of his home crowd, Jousse and van der Garde clashed with each other and retired and Charles Pic rolled his car at Les Combes. It sounds like there was a fair bit of overtaking going on as well.
Race 1 Result:
1. Bertrand Baguette (Draco)
2. Salvador Duran (Interwetten.com)
3. Guillaume Moreau (KTR)
4. Marco Bonanomi (Comtec)
5. Mikhail Aleshin (Carlin)
6. Alexandre Marsoin (Epsilon)
7. Maximo Cortes (Pons)
8. Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Interwetten.com)
9. Miguel Molina (Prema)
10. Mario Romancini (Epsilon)
Comtec's Marco Bonanomi is on Pole for tomorrow's feature race with championship leader van der Garde alongside him.
Last2LiftOff 3 May 2008, 22:37 The 26 cars failed to funnel through La Source without tripping over each other. Carlin's Robert Wickens was tagged into a spin,Well if you're gonna get tagged into a spin, might as well be La Source at Spa. It's another day tomorrow.
Thought I saw on live timing, Bertrand Baguette under investigation? Maybe not.
manbearpig 4 May 2008, 11:01 The race was really interesting. Van der Garde could have gained the 3rd victory in the 3rd race but the collision with Jousse ended his race. Baguette overtaking Duran for first was a very colourful maneuver. Duran wasn't expecting Baguette overbraking at the outward at Bus Stop and going into the corner without any problems. He even lost the second place but took it back after a few corners.
Last2LiftOff 4 May 2008, 13:02 Was Aleshin fast lap?
Last2LiftOff 4 May 2008, 13:42 Live timing (http://intranetwsr.alkamelsystems.com/live.html) race 2 - Spa in about 10 mins.
van der Garde wins to extend his championship lead over Aleshin now to 19 points after just 4 races - imagine where he would be if he had finished R1!?
Pretty unspectacular race by the sounds of it - especially compared to the first one.
Bonanomi 2nd, Aleshin 3rd, Duran 4th, Move 5th (first points for him!), Molina 6th, Marsoin 7th, di Sabatino 8th, Martinez 9th and A Barba 10th.
As a result:
1. van der Garde - 48
2. Aleshin - 29
3. Bonanomi - 25
4. Duran - 18
5. Jousse - 16
5. Moreau - 16
7. di Sabatino - 15
7. A Barba - 15
9. Baguette -12
9. Pic - 12
Also, has anyone noticed also that all but 2 drivers have already scored points - just Cantelli and Theobald are yet to get on the scoreboard. That has to be a triumph for the new car prompting close and exciting competition. With GP2 too, F1 should be taking note...
Wickens out on lap 2. What happened to him this time?
Last2LiftOff 4 May 2008, 19:26
I dunno Mike, he didn't record a sector 1 time on lap 1...already.
Think he was caught up in a first corner skirmish - Moreau was given a drive-thru for causing it apparently
bluelite 4 May 2008, 22:04 Wickens was spun around by Jousse at the start, while Moreau received a drive through for an incident with Duran.
Wickens hasn't actually finished a full race yet has he?
After all the pre-season promise, it's turning into a disaster.
kerrmanningjarv 6 May 2008, 23:54 Race 1 was very interesting... Pic's flip was odd, while Jousse seemed to be the one to blame for his collision with Giga. Baguette's pass on Duran for the lead was very forceful.
Haven't seen race 2 yet but I'm sure it was interesting too.
manbearpig 7 May 2008, 21:07 Move showed some really sweet drive i wasn't expecting from him. he was 2nd fastest(after GVDG) for a couple of laps at the end of the race.
There's an interesting fact about Daniil Move: He's finished all 20 races in his WSR career, including the last 16 in a row. The only blot on his copybook was Monaco last year when he failed to qualify. Pretty impressive stuff!
I've finally been able to watch both races from Monza and I have to say the cars are looking and sounding as great as ever. Race 2 was a little processional in places, but Race 1 had plenty of good racing and lots of scraps all down the field. I was quite impressed with Guillaume Moreau's pass of Charles Pic at the first chicane for example.
It's hard to assess the field completely after only four races, but so far for me there have been some nice surprises (di Sabatino, Pic) and a few drivers that have struggled or have just endured bad luck (Wickens, Molina & Garcia spring to mind).
wannab-aracer 7 May 2008, 21:39 Where can I watch the coverage ? have'nt seen any of Monza or Spa.
Where can I watch the coverage ? have'nt seen any of Monza or Spa.
If you click on this link (http://www.stopandgo.tv/news/world-series/on-line-le-due-gare-integrali-di-monza.html) you can see full coverage of both races from Monza (and even the post-race press conference after Race 1!).
wannab-aracer 7 May 2008, 21:49 Top Man WSR !
Last2LiftOff 8 May 2008, 13:58 Yay! It's about bloody time, thanks for that WSR.
Wickens hasn't actually finished a full race yet has he? After all the pre-season promise, it's turning into a disaster.Yeah, yeah Sev - makes you wonder how he's ever going to get that thing around Monaco next, a little bit. But still a ton of promise, and we be keeping the faith over here.
Last2LiftOff 21 May 2008, 11:05 Hey, Spa Races 1 & 2 (http://www.italiaracing.net/elencovideo.asp?cat=2) now online at italiaracing.net. Maybe that's old news now, dunno.
