I'm looking for race reports. There're some from 72-76 races, but I know nothing about DARM for example. I've managed to get some "Autosport" magazines of that times but there's little information there. Where can I read something about that races? Maybe, some German sites?
There's a crazy idea to start a free racing encyclopaedia (sportcars, silouettes,GTs) in russian, of course. There're lots of F1 sites in runet, but European closedwheels-racing history isn't popular at all in Russia...
Thanks a lot!!!

There's this site www.touringcarracing.net ;-)
Check the German section, you'll find DARM from 67-71, DRM 72-76; and I bet he's working on 1977 at the moment...

Frank! I am a huge huge fan of your site.
What has led you to devote your time to this superhuman effort? Were you involved personally in the sport?
Thanks for the great resource you provide.
Norm
Thanks! Exactly what I’m looking for! Not only statistics but reports too. As you know, ‘there’re lies, barefaced lie and statistics’. Great-great site!!! Thanks a lot for this information oasis!

Hi there. I was just an interested spectator in the 70's and 80's and have always been a touring car fan. Since wasn't too much on the internet back in 2001 and there were hardly books as well I started the site. I have received a lot of help and made many, many new friends all over the world.
We should all be truly grateful to Frank and also Martin Krejci (sports cars). So many F1 sites just reproduce easily avaiable data, often copied from the Formula 1 Register books for the early years, but Frank and Martin's really do represent a huge investment of time & effort to provide facts that are not readily available anywhere else.

... and please don't forget Stefan Örnerdal from Sweden - his Le Mans/F2/F3 site (http://www.formula2.net/) was a big inspiration.

The later DRM races seem to be a maze to get through, bilstein cups, rennsporttrophees division 1, 2 etc. I can't work it even though I tried to grasp it.
By the way isn't there a way to get result from the organisers back then? Many of the german races were organsied by local clubs, which still exist? Bilstein also were very involved as in the DRM weren't they?
So,DARM-DRM-DTM is a correct chain? Were there big DRM non-championship events?

Yes, that's correct. The move from DARM to DRM was a big one; instead of numerous classes and a split between touring cars and GT's it became a series of only two divisions, under and over 2000 cc, GT's and touring cars combined. The first years of the "DTM" the series was called the DPM, Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft.
All racing events in DRM were controlled by local motorclubs, weren't they? So,all the safety questions, technical check were that clubs' work, not a one control arm like DMSB now. But what organization had decided what events went to the championship? ADAC?
Thanks!
