Vegas quote of the weekendJohn B 6 Mar 2000, 00:22 "We're running 18th, that's as good as we're going to get, so I'm ready to call it a day." -Sterling Marlin during rain delay Gerard 6 Mar 2000, 00:51 Since the people at Eurosport are acting like complete arses, can anyone tell me what's going on at Vegas. Rain delay? Is the race over yet? Who won? Tell me it's Dale J. John B 6 Mar 2000, 01:03 Gerard, Jeff Burton in fact won. Our TV coverage ended an hour ago, so I got the final word from Nascar.com. Since this is one of the Select races, as a top five finisher in the previous Select race (Daytona) he wins a million dollar bonus. Tony Stewart finished a strong second, moving through the top 10, passing Martin and closing on Burton before the rain. Martin was 3rd, Elliott 4th and B. Labonte 5th. Labonte now takes a slight point lead. All in all, after only 3 races the Big 5 (jarrett, labonte, stewart, martin, burton) have already established themselves at the top of the points. Joe Fan 6 Mar 2000, 02:02 Gerard, don't complain too much about Eurosport, ABC didn't even air the announcement that the race was indeed called, the did it on their sister cable station ESPN. I found out that the race was called and Burton was the winner (since the race had gone more than half way) on a NASCAR bulletin board. marcus 6 Mar 2000, 02:16 Is that what happened ..I got up at 6.30am to watch the damm race only to be shown god awfull soccer..you would have thought ESPN or ABC would have told us what the heck was going on wouldnt ya. Buy a ticket instead! :) Gerard 6 Mar 2000, 23:24 Or in my case, emigrate to the States, preferably to one of the Carolina's. Thanks for the info guys. Ax Slinger 10 Mar 2000, 10:09 Well, I'll bet ya Jeff Burton loves rain. In three races in the last two years, he's won because he was in front when the race was called on account of rain, and win three Winston No Bull 5 Million Dollar bonuses, for himself, and three new millionaire fans. He'll never look at a rainy day in quite the same way, nor will those three fans who took home a million bucks each. |
