This car would exhist with an engine developed on the basis of the Fiat 131 engine.
Probably only few prototypes were built and I don't know if they raced in the period.
Any information about this car? Thank you for your help! :)

It may have raced in Italy, but as far as I know not in any significant series either in Germany or the WMC.
I don't remember about a 'works" Beta Montecarlo with an atmo engine, they'd have possibily used one for the very first test, nothing more...they made a supercharged version, however, and one was raced at the Giro d'Italia (1980?).
I remember an atmo Montecarlo, raced in Italian hillclimbs, entered in Gp.5, but it had nothing to do with the Dallara built cars, even bodywork-wise...
@ http://www.motorforum.it/cronoforum/viewtopic.php?t=1023 some pictures of the Gp.5 Hillclimb Beta Montecarlo I mentioned can be seen...

It looks to me like a homemade special, with a resemblance to the works cars.

Amongst the 3 works Lancia Beta Monte Carlo which ran the Giro d'Italia in 1980, one of them was fitted with a one piece front bonnet and... a 2 liter supercharged engine. No turbo, but a volumetric compressor Roots (pressure: 0,6 bar). That engine was prepared by Abarth and delivered about 300 bhp.
As fitted, the Lancia was homologated in Gr. 6.
With Bettega and Alboreto at the wheel, it finished second behind one of the two works turbocharged Monte Carlo, this one driven by Patrese and the rallyman Alen.
That was the only outing for this Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Volumex.
