why did they change the ATCC to SCS, everyone still calls it the ATCC anyway.

Tony Cochrane didn't invent the ATCC, a good enough reason to ditch it apparently. I think most people involved in the sport are now calling it the Shell Series. I've wondered if "Championship Series" was a contradiction or a tautolgy. Also, they think Supercars sound more exciting than Touring Cars. I'm inclined to think that the world is sick of "Super" everything.

Boy, here's a problem... I'm not sure what tautology is, but you don't spell it right... something's wrong there!

It really is the Racing Series for the Australian Championship, isn't it? No way do I call it the Shell Series, and I avoid calling them Supercars.

You're right again, David, the world is sick of the 'super...everything'

Ray, that was a typo not a spelling error. Tautology is the use of two words or phrases together, when they both effectively mean the same thing.

Eg. "Shall i repeat this again?" or "Will these supplies be adequate enough?"

In the context of my question, the CAMS manual defines a series and a championship and they aren't quite the same thing.

As you appreciate, David, I am an uneducated sot... nobody taught me about tautology. Thanks for the explanation, I might remember it if I keep it in mind for a long time.

Hey don't laugh! There was a Falcon once at the Bathurst 12 hour that ran on gas, and at the pit stops they simply replaced the fuel tank :)
