I was reading the other day that NASCAR legend, Darrell Waltrip, is going to race in a historics race somewhere in England this July. Goodwood perhaps? If I recall correctly, he is going to race a 1985 Bud Monte Carlo. Question is, will most spectators know who he is or know enough about him appreciate his career?
If its in July its a hill climb not a race. Most likely only a 'demonstration' at the Festival of Speed.
Joe Fan,
How you doing this evening? Yes, it is Goodwood. I saw Darrell, and Junior Johnson on a television show last month, and they were talking about it. Junior took his Daytona 500 winning Chevy (62, if memory serves) there last year, and was a huge hit. Darrell is doing the same with his 1985 car this year. He's taking the family and making a vacatrion out of it.
Should be worth seeing, I think...!
Actually, there was a DW car doing the rounds of British circuits in early 1994, when people were just testing the water to see if there was enough interest to give Rockingham (UK) the green light.
Saw it at Donington, looking terribly self-conscious, poor thing, on the grass infield of a road course!
