French Touring Cars 1983, Hockenheim. Help please!Herbert 14 Aug 2008, 21:58 I`m looking for race reports and the result of the round of the French Touring Car Championship at Hockenheim in 1983. chunterer 15 Aug 2008, 11:48 I'll stick this for a week to see if you get any help! Herbert 15 Aug 2008, 12:43 Thanks a lot. I'm particular interested in that race because in the French Touring Car Championship they used the so called "Handicap Rules" which were adopted for the new DPM/DTM in 1984. As opposed to the ETCC or the BTCC there was only one class and the various car types got different weight and tire widths. So the French series was a kind of role model for the DTM. And at Hockenheim during the German GP´weekend the Frech had the chance to show their series to the Germans. chunterer 15 Aug 2008, 20:39 Interesting... So the ITR may have seen the French series and thought: 'there's an idea?' If you search back in History threads, whilst not strictly relevant to this one, we've touched on Supertourisme before in various threads. Someone even kicked one off about Peugeot's 505 model which was succesful against the Bimmer 5 series, Rover and Alfa's I seem to recall? I'm sure we'll be able to build this up a little for you. Splendid Cat 16 Aug 2008, 19:21 Thanks a lot. . So the French series was a kind of role model for the DTM. And at Hockenheim during the German GP´weekend the Frech had the chance to show their series to the Germans. There was an 83 GP support race, for Touring Cars, which was won by Walkinshaw's XJS. Remember the report in Motoring News. Was there a Supertourisme race as well??? sat 17 Aug 2008, 12:42 GP von Deutschland, Hockenheimring 11 round of Championnat de France de Production 6.8.1983, start time: 14:30 14 laps x 6,797 km rain 1. 7 Peugeot 505 Jean-Pierre Beltoise 0:37:45,206 151,2 km/h 2. 144 Chevrolet Camaro Hans Heyer Serge Power 0:00:21,676 3.
