Chunder said "Fair play, am trying to think of last UK person to win a round of ERC" which in fairness to murf does imply that he thinks Derek Tohill is from the UK and he isnt. But Anyway fair play to Derek, a superb result.. So is he the first Irishman to win a round of ERC? rx-guru 15 Sep 2008, 16:19 Chunder said "Fair play, am trying to think of last UK person to win a round of ERC" which in fairness to murf does imply that he thinks Derek Tohill is from the UK and he isnt. But Anyway fair play to Derek, a superb result.. So is he the first Irishman to win a round of ERC? Okay! If a true Irishman can only be from the Republic – yes! ;) But what about "Plastic Paddy" Doran? Or drivers from N.I.? Where was John Haffey (GB) from? From the North? He won the 1400cc category of the 1994 British ERC round. Ramah 15 Sep 2008, 22:57 :0beer: Well done Derek, must have cost George a packet in the pub afterwards zac510 15 Sep 2008, 23:25 Well done Derek, let's see those multi-million € sponsorship contracts and lingerie models roll in! :) rx-guru 16 Sep 2008, 00:32 Where was John Haffey (GB) from? From the North? He won the 1400cc category of the 1994 British ERC round. Mother Google just told me: from Portadown. However, congrats from Germany, Derek! mivec 16 Sep 2008, 17:13 Yep, Richard Hutton claimed the D1 victory of the 1994 German ERC round at Buxtehude. ;) It went all wrong with Richard Hutton after his rallycross period i heard some years ago. rallyxdamo 17 Sep 2008, 00:54 Well done Derek. Your car is back safe and sound now but i'm not.(I'm f--ked) Was worth traveling for just to see the win and the look on treasa's face for whole race. Barrie 17 Sep 2008, 20:09 Superb Derek, Been keeping an eye on your progress all season, what an achievement. Hopefully your result will interest further British and Irish drivers to give Euro Championship a go. Derek Tohill 19 Sep 2008, 23:45 It's great to read everyones comments! This year has been such a long roller coaster ride for us, it was amazing to take the win; we had come close on many occasions. It's fantastic to give something back to the many people who have helped & supported us all year. I cannot thank everyone enough, it will be a sad farewell to the season at the final round in Germany. But, also a welcome break. It is just so tough to complete an ERC season, to get a win in the process is the kind of stuff that dreams are made of! We might have a few pints the Sunday night of Germany! A few pic's that tell over 1000 words: http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland1.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland2.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland3.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland6.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland5.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland8.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm197/Rallycrossrebels/ERCPoland9.jpg :rotate: :rotate: :rotate: The Eye 20 Sep 2008, 01:50 The way you fought back at Castoral in Poland was great to see! Castoral have been a top driver in D2 for year’s. He had to win to keep his championship hopes alive. He fought hard but it wasn’t enough. A really great drive Derek!!! I hope to see you next year in the ERC. Maybe you can rebuild the Honda to a rear wheel drive D2 car!?? zac510 20 Sep 2008, 11:39 Is Castoral giving you a nudge in the third picture? Did you meet the podium girls? :) Derek Tohill 23 Sep 2008, 22:09 Yes there were lots of nudges for the first half a lap but, I am beginning to learn how to fight back! You are correct about Castoral, drivers like him really force you to think and raise your game. We will think in more detail about next year after Germany! rallyxdamo 23 Sep 2008, 23:13 Yes there were lots of nudges for the first half a lap but, I am beginning to learn how to fight back! On the subject of Germany the best of luck and hopefully you repeat the drive of your life like in Poland. |
