Good news for all us British fans (depending on the licence being granted).
See you all there!

I'm not registered with that website so I can't read the article, but presumably Lydden has made the 2009 calendar as predicted in Autosport back in August. If that's the case, it's great news for British fans like you say. I think I remember reading that the licence would only be granted if a new loose section is added, but fingers crossed that all gets sorted out. :)

Burnsie, it says that Lyddens place is dependant on the work being finished. I presume thats the widening of the start line and also the loose. The dates given are 11th-13th April, round 1.

FANTASTIC!!

Best news I've heard all year!! :rotate: :rotate:

Judging by the improvements that had been made by the August bank holiday BRC event this year, the work that needs to be done is well in hand!

Congratulations to Team Doran!!

Curtain-raiser to the 2009 season? That's even better! Has it been confirmed whether or not the '09 season will be reduced from 12 to 8 rounds yet?

The provisional calender is for 10 rounds with Holland and Norway axed.

This is great news for the UK. Fingers crossed that all the conditions have been met, and that the event is given the green light. :)

I see that the provisional date is the Easter weekend. What does this mean for the traditional BRDA/MSA opening round and also the BTRDA championship? Will there be enough time and paddock space to run these events alongside, or will the domestic calendar have to be re-jigged?

Great news a ERC round that is just down the road.
A great relief after some of this years roadtrips.

Sadly the days of national championships running alongside the ERC are long gone so maybe only one BRDA/MSA event at Lydden, unless they ran the BRDA/MSA on Good Friday.

12 rounds was the FIA max so far and 8 was the "dream" of the drivers. From 2009 on the ERC will be run over 10 rounds, FIA and drivers met half-way. The calendar released this afternoon is provisional until confirmed by the FIA World Council in about three weeks time.

2009 European Rallycross Championship:

11.–13.04.09, Great Britain – Lydden Hill*
01.–03.05.09, Portugal – Montalegre
08.–10.05.09, France – Alençon-Essay
29.–31.05.09, Hungary – Nyirád
05.–07.06.09, Austria – Melk
03.–05.07.09, Sweden – Höljes
07.–09.08.09, Belgium – Maasmechelen
14.–16.08.09, Germany – Buxtehude
04.–06.09.09, Poland – Slomczyn
11.–13.09.09, Czech Republic – Sosnová

* pending on FIA track licence

@RX-guru. I presume this is an ode at the boys of ERC24. If I meet one of these lads I will tell him.

Yep Dutch-RX, please do so – and forward my best regards to the one that went to Paris yesterday. It seems to me that he did a bloody good job there! :)

Does anybody know the latest on the 'jokerlap'? It won't be obligatory next year, but perhaps in 2010? Will Lydden have one next year?

Quote from ERC24 news 1061 of September 6:
"[…] Just a few days after the latest FIA ORC meeting, Lasure appeared to have calmed the drivers with the news that the ORC had proposed to reduce the maximum number of the events in the championship from 12 to 10 and also to make the recommendation that all new circuits should include a Joker Lap and that all existing tracks must add the section at their next scheduled track inspection. […]"

However, don't know yet if the Joker Lap was further discussed yesterday in Paris. Will try to find out…

Great News!!!
Not a bad week for the Dorans so far.:)
I reckon they should buy a lotto ticket before the end of the week......;)

AFAIK now the Joker Lap was at least not on the Paris table yesterday.

Thank you for this information. So there will still be real rallycross in the near future ;)

The Eurocircuit however will have a hard and expensive road to get back in the ERC :s
