Rallycross Open Championship on TV

Open Championship from Blyton is on Motors TV Tonight 7pm

Just watched a bit, not really impressed, 3 supercars in heat 2, 2 in 3rd heats (no Mad Mark in either), yet he goes on to win the event and championship!!

but did they show fire ? hence why i was out 2 heats busing repairing the car !!!!! sorry dont have motors TV

Yep they showed the fire, however 've been involved in rallycross for nearly 30 years and the rules were you had to finish 2 of the 3 heats in order to qualify for a final. I'm not having a 'pop' at you, more the organisers trying to change how rallycross works.

I agree the best race was the Jamie Lea, Mike Turpin Ben Power race before Turpin went into the barriers, plus there was the race where the MK2 (old shape car) against that mighty Golf (medium old shape car)

Rules have evolved in rallyross over the years just as they do in just about every walk of life so why do you want to have "a pop" at the organisers?
You also say you have been involved in Rallycross for nearly 30 years is this as a competitor? or in some other way

In the Open Championship you only need 1 heat in order to be on the back of the finals grids, where ever that might be, and in Marks case that was still in the A final.

Steve, I've been involved in the organisation (I've even worked with you) and as a team member. I was commenting on the rallycross shown tonight, which I thought was lacking, and I'm sure that I'm entitled to air my opinion on this forum, if thats not the case please tell me. I know that cars break during events but to only have 3 supercars start the final, with 2 finishing is pretty poor. However, I do recognise that the Open Championship has taken rallycross up a level in regards to television exposure in this country.

Sorry must apologise for not recalling working with you but as like many you are only known on here by an assumed name, so if you would like to make yourself known to me by private message i might know where you are coming from and then we should be able to have constructive discussions.
It was unfortunate that only 3 Div 1 cars made the final but that is the way the cookie crumbles and the organisers can not be responsible for cars breaking down during an event and all credit should go to those that persevere and fix cars at the event and try to come out and entertain later in the day

well said as pointed out in the rules we only need to complete i run to enter final at back. THe fire happened as we crossed the line so heat was completed.
We did work all day and get the car out.
I think there were 10 -12 supercars entered but being so on the limit some fell by the way side during the day and before the event due to mechanical failure. OBviously also as championships go on people have droppped out due to teh economy as well.
But those there tried to put on the best show we could. Apologies come to Croft and see us all out once again !!!

Great to see rallycross on TV again but FAR too few cars.

last time I raced at Blyton (2002?) there was something like 60 stockhatches entered and full grids of modified's - it was a huge turnout. I think they even had E finals so that everyone got a go.

Are you still competing?
If so then you are one of the few stock hatches still going if not then you have answered your own statement about too few cars.
Look at the entry for the Superprix. Budget could be something to do with the amount of cars at some events but it shows that the end of season event has the drawing power.
