QR Layout

Watched speedweek on FOX Sports this afternoon and noticed the trucks and NASCARS used a different layout than the Touring Cars. Hvae to say it looked like it would be a better track than the V8 track track, with the chicane making the lap a bit more interesting. Also,don't Tulloch and Crick's new trucks look great, i wonder if anyone will buy their old ones.

Racer, they use that short circuit (refered to as "B") for just about every state championship meeting out there. There are two other variations that they use- one that turns right just after turn 2, then left where the trucks went right, up the track in the wrong direction, then cut back over to turn 6 at the top of the track. That is short circuit "A", and then there is "C" which goes up the back straight then cuts over the top end of the track.

I personally like A, David ran on it the other weekend and he'd be able to give a better assessment of it. Most of the drivers apparently like B, and another good thing about it is that it keeps most of the action close to the main spectator area.

I think it was a super move to use circuit B instead of A this year, that was a great move :D

Ive seen this short circuit on speedweek as well and I think it is pretty good..certainly more interesting than the totally boring layout they use for the v8's
but would the shortened circuit be a useable one for V8's ???

havent seen enough of it to say so but it would be interesting thats for sure.

The long circuit is dead boring and can be very hard on equipment, that is why it isn't popular for smaller meetings. It is however, the only layout that i believe is suitable for the V8s. In fact, it was specifically designed just to suit them.

Short circuit A, which I raced on a couple of weeks ago is also known as the Sprint circuit because it is the shortest at 1.89km. It is very challenging in parts and can produce exciting racing, but it's just plain unsuitable for large vehicles. The first crossover also has a very sharp crest which could do real damage to low slung cars.

Short cicuit B at 2.11km, is also known as the Clubman circuit and as Crash Test mentioned is used for most State championship meetings. I haven't raced on it for nearly 2 years, but it is still my favourite. It is certainly the easiest circuit on the equipment and the cars are directly in front of the spectator mound for about 80% of the lap.

Short circuit C has only been used once and i don't know anyone who likes it. It seems to combine the worst elements of the long circuit whilst also retaining the worst elememnts of the short circuits.

I would have to agree with that latter assessment, though I have only seen the long circuit used.

Considering the clean sheet of paper they had (though restricted in available space) the circuit is atrocious. A flyover would have made for a much more interesting place.

The two better 'Club' variations are sometimes used in the one meeting, aren't they, David? They are more interesting, anyway, so much more variation...

In theory the track has everything going for it, and to be quite honest, I have seen some fantastic racing on all circuits. I think what it lacks is atmosphere. It's a mound with a piece of race track next to it. Rather uninspiring. To be honest, I don't mind the place, good facilities etc, but bad for photography.

The good thing about the sprint circuit in my opinion is that there is an extra overtaking spot. 4 real chances in under 2km is pretty good going.

Yeah, good question...umm, turn 2? on the power exiting t6? I'm not sure what I was thinking ;)

Turn 2 at QR is definitely not a passing point, I know I've tried and tried. :)

Well, I have seen many passes there, you can kind of get a cross over from turn 1, and I dont think I will ever forget Garth Tander passing a few cars there at the 99 Sprint Round.
