What formula does the Japanese Touring Car Championship run to. Last i heard they ran SUper Tourers but were only getting 10 car fields, 9 were Toyota's and the other was a Group N Imprezza wagon.

JApan no longer have a touring car championship. It folded about 3 years? ago now. The Super tourers were to be replaced by 3 litre turbo V6 silouhette cars. One prototype was built, but thats as far as it got.

On that, why doesn't someone import some of those Toyota Chaser's from the Japanese series and run in the ASTC, they would be really competitive and are rear wheel drive, so they could match Morris.

Sad to see the Japanese series is dead. It used to be pretty competitive and popular in Group A, and even Steve Soper won the series in a Schnitzer BMW 320i in 1995, beating Anthony reid in a Vauxhall Cavalier / Opel Vectra.

OTOH, Japan has a GRAND touring car championship (JGTC). Supposedly, the series was inspired by the DTM/ITC series. Some of the cars do look pretty nice!!! However, the JGTC is more of a coupe/ sportscar based series than 4 door sedan series.

OTOH, someone first has to locate the Chasers. As well, they probably won't be cheap and need to be rebuilt. And even if one could be found, why would you go to all that effort to race in a series that is pretty well dead? Sniff, sniff.. Sighh...

I think even Owen Kelly found out that with Paul's other car, you won't even come close to winning...

Basicaly the Grand Touring Car Championship is Japan equivelent to the FIA GT series run in Europe. I belive the cars are built somewhere along the lines of GT-2 rules, as they competed in that class when the old FIA series raced at Suzuka with the Mercedes and Porsche.
