MOTORSPORT TRIVIA - Q23 & 24Graham 12 Jan 2000, 22:55 Q23. What new innovation did the Cord 810 (first produced in 1937) boast? Q24 What 'visible' first did the 1927 Ford Model A have? Gerard 12 Jan 2000, 23:44 Q23. Pop-up headlamps. Graham 13 Jan 2000, 00:13 Damn you Gerard! ;) Have you got the same game or summink? Yes, the Cord was the first with pop-up (retractable) headlamps. You are TOO good, or you cheat. Which? Come on! Out wi' it, lad! Graham 13 Jan 2000, 00:14 By the way, if WH Smiths have my order in tomorrow, I'll hopefully be improving these questions somewhat. Gerard 13 Jan 2000, 14:03 OK, I'll admit it, Graham. I'm just too good! :) Actually I have a huge library on motorsport and car history. One of the books in this library is 'Cord 810/812: The Timeless Classic by Josh Malks. I found the answer there. As to Q24, to show you I don't know everything, I just have to guess. I do have a book about the Ford model A, but I couldn't find the answer to the question anywhere. So, my guess is, either bumpers or windscreen wipers. Graham 13 Jan 2000, 20:24 I am deeply, deeply envious :) Ford Model A had the first laminated windscreen, dear boy. Got me book - hang on tight... |
