And it's a good idea - I'll vouch for that. :)
Ok I will let people in on what I am planning to do.
at random I will choose a members site and they will have pride of place in this very forum for a week as a hot topic.
so every time a someone visits the cool sites forum the members site will be at the top for the whole week..thus promoting that site for the world to see for a week.
I will encourage people to visit the hot site and make comments on what is there if they wish.
Only motorsport sites will be considered as this is essentially a motorsport site.
Please feel free to still post your cool sites in this forum as there is quite a few members sites to get through and it may be a while before i can get to yours.
I will however in the week prior to using your site get in touch with you through the PM system to see if you would like your site used (some people may not want their site to be used which is fine)
so hopefully people will enjoy this little brainstorm i have had and I think it will work reasonably well and im sure the week your site is on top of the pile you will be very happy :)

That's a good idea marcus, hopefully it will promote more visitors to the cool sites forum.

How about you resurrect the old 'site of the week' thing and feature it in the newsletter too ?

If the "Featured Site" is promoted in the Cool Sites forum, the newsletter (and maybe even the 10/10 Links site) we are talking about some serious exposure.

Just an update for everyone..i am progressing with this slowly ..I am currently still going through all the websites.
but it is coming i promise :)

IF you decide to use mine at any point, can I ask that it coincides with my relaunch? In other words, I'll contact you? Cheeky question I know, but once I have collated loads of motorsport dates, the calendar will be revamped and ready for publication in the first few months of next year.

Yep Lorna that is not a problem..indeed this is why I am planning to contact people before using their site .
in case
1. They dont want it used at all
2. It may need updating or adjustments made.

very soon ..in fact this time next week should see the announcement of the first members site ..I am currently trying to finalize a few details in the way this is to be run and then we are off and running.
sorry for the delay ..but there are a heap of sites I have had to go through and I havent even finished all of them as yet ..but am going to make a start on it anyway while I am still researching.

Yes ..this has been mentioned to me before ..and i think it is a good idea ..but unfortunately I dont know anything about making these little gifs or what have you.
soooooo..if anybody has any ideas about this little "Hot site" award please let me know ..or if you can whip one up really quickly then by all means do so and send it to me and we will see what we can do.

I have just found out we already have one however but if anyone wants to have a crack at making a new one then thats fine but I will put a picture of the current one we have and if people want to use this one then great but if you want a new one then one will have to be made.

You shouldn't put have it up yet though, it could be on my home page within 10 minutes......!!
