Price of testing

If this has been covered before I apologise for revisiting it.....How come Donington try to charge me GBP380 for a day's testing (or I could have half a day at the bargain price of GBP280)?

This is over double the cost of Silverstone or even any of the Brands Hatch Leisure circuits.

I'm staging a one-car boycott by missing my Donington rounds this year (that'll teach them!). Shame, it's a great track, but not that great. I'll spend the money on more races elsewhere.

How much do you guys pay in other countries?

Steve

Don't know about other countries but Mallory is £55.00 for a half day.

Donington is always expensive but I don't know why. ;)

Lakeside in Queensland Australia charges $60 for a half day of testing, that's only GBP 24.

Ruapuna in Christchurch NZ is NZ $80 during the week, at our nationals (Kart) saturday practice was NZ$10 for 1/2 day.

Anyone ever found anywhere else to test ?
Sometimes I just want to run the car in or something real simple and don't need a full circuit as I 'm not necessarily interested in top speed.
I know some people have suggested small airfields - I found one near Silverstone but they wanted about GBP70
Any suggestions ?

Money's no object for us every year we spend February touring tracks in France and Spain where its always good weather to run a freshly made car.
If anyone wants prices for different tracks there ill find out for them?

Ian,

Please. If you want to post a URL would you do so in the "Cool sites" forum. We try to keep other websites out of the general forums. We will keep it here in this case but please try to avoid this in future.

Thanks for your cooperation.

I have used Bruntingthorpe Airfield in Lincolshire.
This is were Jonathan Palmer used to/still run(s) his Palmersport operation for corporate days.
Has a 2mile long straight, enough corners to keep you interested though the runs between them are long.
Brilliant place to shake down a car, bed in pads and so on.
There are rarely more than 2/3 cars on the field, though it could easily handle 50.
Pavement can be dirty and there are no facitities. Its miserable in the rain.
I think it works out at about £20 per hour, and you don't necessarily have to pre book, just check that its open first!

You can find it on the web though the phone number is the wrong one but DirEnq should help. http://www.jetman.dircon.co.uk/brunty/location.html

Thanks for that Ian.
Lincolnshire is probably too far to go from Berkshire, obviously airfields are a good tip, just need to find one closer to home.

Soory, I'd been dealing with Lincolnshire that day!
Bruntingthorpe is in Leicestershire and isn't that far away from Mallory Pk.
