Crash Test 22 May 2000, 07:30 Don't think i have seen this one pop up this century...
What is your current road car(s)?
Mine weapon of choice is a 1991 Honda Civic Sedan....what a beast!!
http://www.zyworld.com/karma_racing/falcon.jpg
this is my current beast (or not) 1987 Ford XF Falcon...I only got this car about 4 months ago and it gets me to and from work allthough it could do with another 50 or 60 horsepower.
the other car we have is an 89 VN Commodore.
Truckosaurus 22 May 2000, 10:59 I have a Japanese Estate car with twin carrier bag hooks. :)
Goes a bit though:

elephino 22 May 2000, 14:32 2000 Nissan Pulsar (1 month old on Friday) :)
MichaelC 22 May 2000, 15:30 1997 Peugeot 306 1.9D Turbo. Ridiculously economical, and a lot more reliable than the Prost GP team's engines...
I guess it has to be asked whether or not at 21 I am too young to own a diesel
I'm trying to upload picture of my chariot as we speak. Until then...
Bluebottle 22 May 2000, 23:26 Three cars between me and Mrs Bluebottle:
1984 Ford Grandad- for when we need to tow a trailer full of band gear or are givig lifts to more than one of our friends.
Dutton Sierra kit car- a Mk2 Escort based kit utility vehicle which is great for lugging around stuff which dosn't quite justify using Granada + trailer, but this car only has two seats. Better around town than the Granny.
Vincent Hurricane- a 2-seat convertable kit built on the chassis of a Triumph Spitfire 1500- this one is purely for fun.
None of the above see regular daily use, but each has is purpose. We also have 5 bicycles between us- one of which is fitted with a Heinzman electric motor, 20 miles at 15 mph- great for hilly areas!
For a short period of time (about a year) we had a series 2 Landrover called 'The Antichrist' (I got it as part payment for another car I sold) and before that we had a Bedford ambulance for band transportation- 10 mpg, not good!!
Heeltoe6 23 May 2000, 02:50 '91 VW Jetta, 5-sp standard, diesel. Just turned over 160K last Tue.
Everyday car: 1998 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4.
For overseas markets, that's an Opel, or a Holden Barina (?).
Ongoing project car: 1970 Mercedes Benz 220 W115 series.
That's the old Merc with the stacked headlamps and a separate grille, so beloved of Beirut taxi drivers.
Their christened names are "Starbug" and "Isolde" respectively.
Green_man4421 23 May 2000, 14:39 Some old 300 dollar that 180 us dollar bike that takes me from here to their and public transport.
I nearly ran into a van lucky for my ten year old breaks that still work OR my helmet would Have hit the side of the van and my neck would be sore.
A 1989 Peugeot 405 - just the ordinary 1600 cc version, but it goes quite well, and it's soooo comfortable. A small crack on the exhaust pipe appeared just recently, so it sound like it's got a couple of Remus attached to it. MichaelC, I bet your 306 would even go faster than the Prost cars ;)
I drive a 97 Dodge Dakota pickup. 4.0 liter V6 and 5 speed. It also has the upgraded handling package. Not too bad for a truck, makes mincemeat out of V6 Camaros on the circular ramps to get on highway.

Mine looks similar to this but is black and two wheel drive.

My (off)road car is a '91 Ford Explorer w/ 134,000 miles and skin cancer. Not suitable for uploading.
slicktoast 23 May 2000, 20:16 Honda delSol vtech 5sp. Fun,fun,fun.
1974 Dodge Charger 400cu.in. gets 8mpg.
1986 VW Jetta Carat 1.8ltr. gets 38mpg.
Both of these are now for sale to help pay
for my 2001 BMW X5 SAV 4.4ltr which so far
is getting 15mpg. I am still breaking it in
and hopefully that will improve some.
A hideous white 1999 VW Passat Wagon, 5 speed and WAY TOO MUCH body roll in the turns.
I dying to get some serious rubber on some decent alloys and stiffer springs.
The wife drives an eleven year old SAAB 900 with 110 k, she loves it as much as I hate it.
i drive a 240z datsun with a 400 hp chevy and 4 speed b and m automatic.. the car weights 2000lbs steers and handles beautifully and does zero to 60 in 3.7 sec...its hard for me to visualize a car with more weight and less hp than that...
Scottie 24 May 2000, 18:53 Here's my daily driver, a 1986 Corvette.

I paid £500 for the above beastie. Since then I have spent close to £1,500 getting the bodywork reallty well sorted out and all the niggly mechanical things. Not only do I like to take pride in my car, I like the idea of preserving a future (present?) classic. It runs well, probably produces as little emissions as anything else on the road, and gets me from A to B the same as a brand new Ferrari, which I would sell to fund a complete Maestro restoration! I'm not adding to the numbers of cars on the road by selling it on and buying a new one, so I don't feel I have any reason to feel guilty about owning this baby :)
PS Sorry for current huge size of images - will either get other half to sort it out or do it later when I get back from work.

I have no doubt that some of you will scoff at my current choice of conveyance. Both my parents had one, so somehow I ended up with one too, but one with all the trimmings, including lovely walnut bits on the door caps. It's an Austin Maestro 1.6 Vanden Plas and has typical VP gadgets and luxury items. It qualifies me to roam the country attending Maestro Owners Club and Vanden Plas Owners club meetings, and I love it dearly.

Green_man4421 26 May 2000, 12:48 What is the diffrence between paying 1 million and 1 thousand for a car that basically does the same thing take you from here to their so the fact is that you would be simpy wasting 900 thousand plus dollars if you paid that much for a car. The more expensive a car the more money you will waste.
CArs are seen as a symbol of status in this messed up society is that correct? So the better car you have the more successfull you are for some messed up general perception? Money equals success why?
The more you spend on a car the more money you waste?

Well, here it finally is!

I've had this car on and off for over four years now (sold it three times - I keep buying it back!)
1972, (tax exempt) RS2000 running gear, 5 speed box, fast road cam,
dellorto's, lightened flywheel, fully adjustable 2 1/4"
coil-over suspension etc... goes like the proverbial of a shovel.
And I love it!
*****Many, many thanks to Red, Elephino, Fatbloke and Diabando for responding to my feeble cries of pain! You guys are STARS!*****

Custom Glock Racing 6 Jun 2000, 20:23 1999 3/4 ton extended cab Dodge Ram with slightly tweaked 360. I got tired of breaking 1/2 axles, and got the dodge because it came with Dana 60s.
hoss
In my garage a Suzuki Vitara JLX 4 wheel-drive.
Next to it a Hyundai Coupe 2.0
Diabando 7 Jun 2000, 01:54 My car...
1973 Holden HQ, GTS Specs, Original red 308 V8 engine. I have had it for 11 years now...cant bear to part with it :)
Cheers!

Crash Test 8 Jun 2000, 13:08 Said in a Dr Nick Riviera voice -"Hmm, now thats a lil stwange."
Hey Brett, try to lay off on the weed and the Marx, okay?
Mine is a white 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix Special Edition Leather seats (sorry about the cows that gave their lives, Brett), sunroof, etc. Nice car, IMO.
There is also the 1996 Chevrolet 1500 Z-71 extended cab that I normally drive. The only thing it has going for it is that it is a TRUCK. The Pontiac gets better gas mileage ($25 for a full tank in the truck), goes faster, turns better and has an almost "racy" feel to it. The Chevy is a TRUCK. That's why I like it.
Bluebottle 10 Jun 2000, 17:07 This is Jake, Mrs Bluebottle's Vincent Hurricane. He gets to come out and play quite frequently, and was even allowed to come to Le Mans with us in 1998.

RallyMan 14 Jun 2000, 12:33 Everyday road car, to from work etc, Ford Mondeo 2.5V6 and when I fancy some real fun I fire up the Mitsubishi Lancer EvoVI, 4 wheel drive, 2.0L Turbo. If you ever get the chance, get one! Its one awsome motor to drive and without a doubt the fastest point to point car on sale in the UK today.
skylark - a 10 year old 316i french registered.
most likely to be seen - squeezed into a tiny parking spot in cambridge, or on a double yelow outside the maypole pub.
most endearing feature - the speed dial. it feels faster when you're doing it in km's.
most irritating feature - it's bottom of the range.
handiest feature - 4 foors. good for pub runs with friends.
most irritating failing - fuel dial cr@p. 200 km's short of a picnic.
i love her really.
DAVID PATERSON 15 Jun 2000, 10:18 At the moment I've got a VT Commodore, had it since new, less than 2 years old with 82000km on the clock, very nice car but I have to give it back tomorrow as I am changing jobs. New job comes with a new Falcon Futura wagon, excellent tow car for my Datsun 1600 (Nissan 510) Historic touring car (Classic Saloon). would you like to see a picture? :)
Diabando 15 Jun 2000, 10:25 David P - yes yes! Picture please :)
And you have to give back the VT....can I have it? *L*
Crash Test 15 Jun 2000, 13:25 David, i would like to remind you that the Datto is road registered, and reliable, so why have a tow car?;)
I have a 1996 Peugeot 205 GRi....it's more or less like the 205 accent in europe buth with electronic fuel injection. Certanly not a high performance vehicle but it does what I need and the fuel economy is just wonderful.
I'm only posting the RS again 'cos it got lost in the new software, and I think it's lurvvleey!! It's my baby...
http://steve-cooper.members.beeb.net/Cooper_Motor_E/Page_3/IMAG0006.JPG
Unfortunately it's going to need a bit of a refurb soon. :(
cash.. cash.. must get cash.... ;)
Diabando 19 Jun 2000, 09:51 Sparky - its just awesome :)
Come on David P - wheres yours??
I lost the pic of my car when I cleaned out my HD, so I need to scan it again...will post it soon!
When I cleaned the car it didn't look like the one on the picture anymore. :)
So I destroyed the car...eh, the picture.
We took delivery of 300hp Lotus Elise a few weeks ago. It is kept at our house in France. And we`ve only used it a few times, my wife frightened a couple of Ferrari drivers to death on the way to Monaco. It pulls more looks than the red jobs to! We`ve got a new V70 on the way for pratical purposes and I`ve got a new customised Hyabusa so you can keep your cars folks!
CATMAN, is it allowed to drive a Hyabusa in your country.
Here in The Netherlands you may own one but it's forbidden to take it on the public road because of it's top speed (300+ km/h I believe)?
