Hi,

I've had the following enquiry:

As part of a research project, I am looking whether a Mr Richardson (UK)
participated/raced in any British hillclims or minor/regional championships
during the years 1961 - 1964.

Would you be able to find anything re this in your databases or point me to
someone (or to websites) that could help me?

Can anyone out there possibly help??

Cheers!

Darren

I had a look in Beaulieu's copy of "A Record of the British Hillclimb Championship" today, and I'm sorry to report that there's no trace of a "Richardson" taking part in the hillclimb championship during the period in question.

But if it's Hillclimbing you're after, that's the book to find. One slight problem - it had a print run of 250 copies!

I found a Daniel Richmond, who campaigned a Venom-BMC in 1961, though.

Have you got any reference to what sort of vehicle Richardson drove? I only have records of circuit racing, but you'll gather that just typing in the surname is liable to come up with a host of results.

Thanks for that TimD.

Investigation at TNF and a trawl through my website has established that the person we are probably talking about is Ken Richardson, and the car a Ferrari 250SWB 1993GT. Any further details about this car's race history would be gratefully appeciated.

From TED Walker, Karl Richardson competed in a few UK and Foreign events in a GT40 and other cars in the 60s

Who are we looking for ?

Ken Richardson or Karl ??

There is a Ferarri data site http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/summary/All.Ferraris.index.htm that has all chassis numbers, race history however it is far from complete. I'm sure there is also a GT40 site, just have to find it that's all.

I'm not sure 100% either way at the moment, as the chassis 1993 has not been confirmed as Karl's or Ken's. Here is what I found on 1993 given the link above:-

Date Result Event Driver # Reference
60 - Hoare
1995 and 1993 were the first two cars imported by Ronnie Hoare to start Maranello Concessionaires. They were somewhat unusually both built with competition engine, high lift cams, competition gearbox, comp. seats, 100 litre fuel tank, 40 dcoe webers and yet both with steel body. Both RHD, 2 of the 10 RHD's built. Jess Pourret calls them 'semi-comp' because of the steel body, but what's the difference in weight - about 60 kilos or 60 litres of fuel ! And there are no 'hand prints' on the body.

Karl Richardson competed mainly in HILL CLIMBING. Ken Richardson RACED certainly with a very rough 250 SWB. I took the photos to prove it.
