Can anybody point me in the direction of a site and/or book giving results for the 1971 formula ford championship?

British series would be best, but results from anywhere would be helpful!

1979 Winner was Guy Dormehl, who won the drive - a very nicely prepared Van Diemen in a contest in (I believe) the Sun. He drove in RAC and Thoresen FF1600 in 1980 and then ran out of money

1978 was won by a Canadian called Rob Zurrer (Crosslé 32F) who just held off a young man by the name of Mike Thackwell. Zurrer didn't drive again in FF1600 in Europe. Don't know what he did in Canada

1977 was won by American Willy T.Ribbs (Royale RP24) one of the few black drivers to enter the sport.

Other major championships in these years
1977:
Esso BRDC: Nigel Mansell (Crosslé 32F)
Thoresen BRSCC: Chico Serra (Van Diemen RF77)
BARC: Trevor van Rooyen (Royale RP24)

1978:
Esso BRDC: Jim Walsh (Royale RP24)or Peter Morgan (Lola T540)
Townsend Thoresen BRSCC: Kenny Acheson (Royale RP24)
Phillips BARC: Kenny Acheson
RAC: Kenny Acheson
FF. Festival: Michael Roe (Van Diemen RF78)

1979:
Esso: Jim Walsh (Royale RP26)
Thoresen: Terry Gray (Van Diemen RF79)
BARC: David Sears (Royale RP26)
RAC: Gray or Roberto Moreno (Royale RP26)
FF Festival: Don McLoed (Sark 2)

Given time can dig race results out of files (Must repair my ZIP drive!)

According to The Pace Motor Racing Directory the winner's name is Guy Dormehl. Like you I've never heard of him.

Oops. Show have read the rest of the thread before posting.

Thanks again! Sorry no.That was from the PACE directory. For some reason I did not record 1980 FF,onlyFF2000. I have 81 Star of Toomorow, possibly because a friend of mine,Chris Ringrose was in it! I have,I think all Tim's F3 results if you still need those.

Thanks Rob - I need to know if a Lola T204 ever raced in 1971 (It was identical to the T202, the '71 car, and only given a new designation to make it seem like a new model) - any help much appreciated!

First reference I have to a T204 is that a Walter Frederick Liles drove a blue one in 1973.That I knew what colour it was seems to indicate I saw it so must have been in England.T200 (71)T202 (72),T204 (73)?

Now there's a name from the past.

If my memory serves this was the man who got his drive by being on a TV programme (name escapes) which gave people the chance to do the job of their dreams. Last time I saw him was at the Racing Car show in 1985 (ish) with a Porsche 956 which he was aiming to use at Le Mans. Anybody could sponsor the car and have their name put on the bodywork. Where is he now?

Another name mentioned in this thread is David Sears. He moved on to become a Team Owner in F3000, but not before he gave good account of himself in the British Touring Car Championship in Capris and Rovers. He also drove RS500s for Andy Rouse. Then there's Michael Roe, Julian Bailey, Kennnny Acheson et al.

TV show was the big time.

He raced Tigas in the World Sportscar Championship until 88 when it errr, caught fire and burnt to nothing...

Got a 962 afterwards but money ran out in 91. Got the 2 finishers in 90 though!!!!

Now, well karting for fun!!

Yimkin: The Lola T-200/202/204 series were not 1970/1971/1972 as one might expect; in fact the whole scenario defies logic. Per the Lola build sheet records, the first 202 is chassis no. 65 and is listed in the Lola record as October 12, 1970. The first 204 is listed as chassis no. 82 (no date) and went to Haas, where it was sold to a Jackson Euerds (??) on 4/13/73. The second 204 is chassis no. 83, with a build date of Nov. 2, 1970 (20 days after the first 202????), went to Haas and was sold by Haas as "chassis no. 202/83" to "Hayes" on 11/30/70!!! The third 204 was no. 84, and it went the same route, sold by Haas in 1970 as a 202!

According to the Lola records, only (17) 202's were built, but Haas' records show that Haas (just the US dealership) sold all 28 of them!!
So, all sorts of confusion is justified here.

If you have a chassis number, a Hewland number or the name of the first owner (only if it was sold by Haas in the US), I might be able to help you.

Thanks bobdar - that is very useful information for me (trying to resolve an eligibility issue)

This should be enough, but if I need any more info, then I'll private message you if thats OK?

Your reply shows just how useful this forum can be!

Just how extensive would your access to Lola build records be?
Interested in early F5000's (140 and 190 series)
