The TOCA series (Touring Car) has been enormously successful in Europe, and it was rumored that there was a third game in development at Codemasters UK. Adding fuel to the fire, the company never denied that a third game was in the works. However, today we learned that things have changed a little - the game everyone thought would be TOCA 3 has turned out to be a new title - World Touring Car. Today we acquired first screens and details of the game.
World Touring Car (WTC) will offer up 23 real tracks that will take you to five different continents. There are more than 40 cars available, and 15 will race at once. As already seen in the TOCA series before, the cars feature an intensive damage system that both shows and lets you feel the effects of the damage to your car.
A new addition to the TOCA series is the four-player split-screen mode found in WTC. It'll be interesting to see if Codemasters can manage to keep the frame rate steady in this mode.
World Touring Car looks promising, and if Codemaster can make this game as playable as its other TOCA titles it might be looking at another winner. We'll soon know, as WTC is planned for release in May. Check back soon for a preview.
