www.pamak.com (http://www.pamak.com) won the no1. Irish motorsport site position in 1999. It doesn't have any videos, but it is definately one of the nicest looking and quickest downloading sites I have ever seen. What does everyone else think?
Boomerang 29 Mar 2000, 11:52 Cool site. Definatly worth a look. Design wise it is brill, very fast to download and nicely structured. Didnt know they had one make rallying in Ireland.
I did the award graphic for that. The one with the trophy on it.
(shameless, aren't I?) ;)

Cool Graphic. Are you doing the graphic for the 2000 winner?
No idea. I did the 1999 one as a favour to the bloke who runs www.nirallynetwork.co.uk (http://www.nirallynetwork.co.uk) (Gary Gray).
I think the site who wins one year, hosts the awards the next.
Boomerang 13 Apr 2000, 09:10 Nice graphic Graham. Really like the way this site is put together.
What site? Pamak? I didn't build that site if we've got a misunderstanding here. I just made the award graphics - three in all : 1st, 2nd, 3rd - for Gary, who was running the awards last year.
At the mo I'm fiddlin' a logo for the Northern Ireland Marshal's Register for the same bloke. Ah, back to Photoshop then I suppose...
[This message has been edited by Graham (edited 13 April 2000).]
Will you send us the link when you finish that image Graham?
What, the logo?
Gary has put that NIMR site to one side coz he's become affiliated with some top-notch Irish motorsport news site. I forget which. Anyway, he's busy re-designing his own site www.nirallynetwork.co.uk (http://www.nirallynetwork.co.uk) and probably moving it to a better host to cope with more traffic.
I, on the other hand, am about to start making a site for an American company who sell laser set-up devices.
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I have been looking at loads of rallying sites lately and bar a few sites like tomsport.com, I think pamak.com deserves an award on ten-tenths. Would any of you agree with me out there? Or am I just talking through my exhaust pipe?
I bandied the idea of Site Awards to Craig a while back but, as ever, the problem is finding someone to run it and check out the sites.
I'm sometimes doing nothing then other times I'm busy as a beaver in flood season, so I'm not ideal to be the co-ordinator for Site Awards.
If Rebecca Appleton is still doing it, there's a Site of the Week section in the 10 Tenths newsletter.
I might have a shot at looking at award sites. But as you say I am quite some days and busy as hell others. Maybe it should be an effort between a number of people with a standard of marking laid out and agreed before Judging. Whaddaya Think guys?

I have been talking to Gus - one of the guys that drives the KA - and it looks like I am the new webmaster. Turns out he lives not far away from where I live in Dublin! BTW Graham, if it is ok with you, might we collaborate on this year's graphic for the motorsport site? It seems you were right. The winner does have to host it the next year!
I don't mind. It's not till December anyway - that's when the 1999 awards were. I finished the graphic at 11:28pm on the 23rd Dec 1999. 2 days after being asked by Gary.
(I looked at the file date)
Are you a webmeister by trade then? Give me some URLs and I'll check out your sites.
Best to ask Craig about the site awards :
Craig.Antill@ten-tenths.com
He'll tell/ discuss with you what would be involved and how it might work.
Here are a couple more sites I have done Graham.
http://www.willis-supplies.ie http://www.kwik-fitfleet.com
I think I will email Craig to talk about that.
Very, VERY nice, mate!
I only wish I had that kind of talent. *sniff*
How long have you been webmeistering? Do you have a background in art/ design?
Your very good at making friends Graham. Quite the diplomatic mind at work there. I've been webbing and doing graphic design since I was about 18. I did a diploma course in graphic design and web programming a few years ago. Thanks for the compliments but I have to say I love your site because it shows your obvious passion for motorsport. The one thing that my sites are missing. Maybe pamak is the site that I can show off my enthuasiasm on.
I think anyone who knows me will vouch that I don't say things if I don't mean them.
Really, your sites are damn good and I do not, at present, have the skills, experience or even raw talent to do stuff like that. A pity but I'm learning all the time.
I'm self-taught. I dallied in DTP for a while (5-6 months).
That's exactly where I began when I started all those years ago. I would be more than happy to work with you sometime on a site you need help with. Once again when time allows.
I've never needed help so far. I love design so much I'd be too greedy to let anyone spoil my fun! :)
At the moment I'm trying to learn Flash, which seems bloody cumbersome. But the output looks great so I'm pressing on.
Thanks for the offer. If you ever need any help, give me a shout.
We have been thinking about putting some flash up on the site. But I decided against it because I hate flash intro's on a site for flash sake. Although If we did the entire site in flash..... that might be a different story.
Awards. What every site wants. Can anyone suggest a decent and hard to achieve website award we can enter / nominate ourselves in? Apart of course from the much pursued Ten Tenths Cool Site award.
I don't like Flash intros, but I like Flash sites a bit.
At the moment I'm learning while trying to construct a (complex) interface for my site for about half the photos. My warped mind has thrown up some amusing ideas but don't have the skill yet to make them happen. God help the world when I master it! :D
Awards : how about the Webby's? Or Project Cool?
You know, the only award I've ever got for my site has been the Cool Site from 10T, I suspect because Craig took pity on me :)
you are a lucky man to have it, but I suspect Craig chose the site because it actually 'is' a cool site. Nothing to do with taking pity on you. Oh by the way Graham could you give me the url's for those sites? Thanks.
URLs for what sites? The awards? Well, I'm not sure about the Webby's (yearly?) but Project Cool is at :
http://www.projectcool.com/sightings/
Craig : 'spect he did pity me or thought he'd lick my arse a bit after I wibbled on this here site.
jeese luise. site of the day on project cool is amazing. I think I had better start looking at putting my sites in flash. looks like the pamak.com flash version will be on the cards in the next few months.
It sure is (2advanced). I'm not familiar with Flash to do half the job of that. Probably never will be.
How's your skills with Flash?
I started in director originally in college but I have only been using flash for the last 8 - 10 months. I have never done anything quite as good as the 2advanced website, but given enough time I could. We are already trying to figure everything out on his site. I love the term he uses for himself "Motion Graphics Designer"
Graham
can you e-mail me please mate?
Nice title - I suppose he concentrates on Flash(ing).
So what have you in store for Pamak? Something spectacular?
Have you applied your site(s) to Project Cool for an award?
There's another that I visit sometimes - Paisley's Cool Sites or something like that. Go to www.hotbot.com (http://www.hotbot.com) and search for "cool sites" and it's on the first results page about a quarter of the way down. (I've forgotten the URL, you see)
Thanks for the search tip graham. I've found a whole load of sites which I can submit to.
Well, if you need anyone to vote for you... :)
Joe Hunter, Gus's navigator in the KA has retired from the navigator seat. Anyone who is resident in Ireland and Interested in becoming a Navi check out the website. http://www.pamak.com
Of course, they have to be blind as well. I'm sure any sighted person would refuse to get in the Ka(si) ;)
Not the juciest looking car in the world, i'll give you that. But at least it's not a cinqequento! Anyways its truly a great oppurtunity for those who want to get experience, considering they are currently lying in third position in their championships.
I'll give you that. I suppose you can't see what it is from the inside... ;)
Flat^Crest 8 Jun 2000, 22:25 Jadsia, found ya blaspheming the KA! Shamefull! Luckily you came out with the cinqu- whatever line!
The KA's not so bad really when your inside and on a stage! Bit of a hairdressers car to look at but as they say looks can be very deceiving! That car can certainly make some strange shapes on the stages! Volunteers welcome!
Hi Gus(?)
Get along to the All Classes forum and give us some info about your rallying, in Lee Purnell's post. We used to have a Rallying forum but it was assimilated into All Classes due to lack of posters.
Flat^Crest 12 Jun 2000, 15:53 Have made a few posts there Graham. Seems a bit lacking on input there. Need a few more rally boys on the site to spur a bit of chat.
I have had a look at the rallying section there too and there doesn't seem to be much doing. It's a pity because rally is such a great sport.
Flat^Crest 16 Jun 2000, 09:01 It is a pity but hey it may just have to be rectified. Off to Donegal for the annual pilgramage today. Cannot wait. Has an entry that must only be surpassed by a WRC event.
I have two banners on my website that point people to the Historic and All Classes forum - why don't you do the same on Pamak and get some rallying dudes in here?
What website is that website address Graham? I don't know if we will do a banner as I am not a great fan of them on websites, but I think we will put a graphic link on the right hand side column. We might as well get this section going!
Not sure what you mean, old chap. I haven't mentioned any websites... only forums on this here site.
I have banners on my own site - http://www.british-motorsport.co.uk - but only ones I've created for blokes for free and I bung them on my site for free too. I'm not going to put paid commercial advertising on there - I don't have any hosting bills to pay.
