Croft Circuit Information Required

The almighty Ten-Tenths track guide to Croft is nearing completion but can anyone help by chucking in their thoughts on the following -

- what are your favourite places to stand to view the action, and what is available in temrs of seating?

- how good is the track for photography and what are the best places?

Croft is my home circuit and i like it.

Theres not a lot of seating, just a couple of grandstands but plenty of places to watch.

the first obvious place is off Clerveaux, the first corner. they've built large mounds which make excellent viewing right across the circuit.

Failing that theres at the back end of the circuit but i cant remember the corner names - its where the paddock ends and Nissan has traditionally had its hospitality unit. more of these man-made mounds mean you can get a good view of the cars as they come right round the back.

Just before the start finish stright there is the hairpin from hell. For snaps this is the best place as you can catch the cars coming round the left hander into the hairpin. We went up to get some shots for my newspaper at the F3 last year and our snapper got some good shots there, hope this helps even if a little vague.

You've just made me think of something, are there any areas where there isn't viewing because of hospitality units being set up in that area?

we always stand at the complex on the bank just before the pit entrance.- You can see them go down one straight, losse them round the bend (sunny in & sunny out). Someone always end up the field.
Also you are on the right side for the pits.

Have you tried driving the Peugeot in Toca 2 around Croft....you can see everything!

I normally stand in the pitlane hanging the pit board out, but if im watching i go to the first corner cos its not as far to walk.

Zoe if its your home track where abouts are you from because we are thinking about moving to Catterick.

We have a problem in that Paul Perkins who edits the site has not corrected an error in post numbering from post 13 onwards. I understand that Paul P is travelling around the globe, hopefully he will eventually return.

Spectating & photography.
I can endorse the suggestions of the banking behind Clervaux (Post 3 on above map). The other bank suggested above the Complex views the fast half of the track away from the start. These artificial viewing banks are more than 5 metres high for good views.

For Rallycross many prefer to stand opposite post 5 at the Old Chicane. Close to cars and one can see both ends of the Rallycross track.

For those who like to be close to the start and the Hairpin, then some like to walk past the Old Chicane and cross the track at Post 7. The infield enclosure from a low bank gives the required views, plus views of Tower and most of the front half of the track.

Remember racing always begins at 12:00 on a Sunday giving plenty of time to view & photograph the cars in the paddock areas - ask the drivers a sensible question and most will be delighted to talk!
