So, who's heading to Silverstone next weekend?
I'll be there Cazzer! Will you ? :D
I don't think that many of the others will be sadly, as they are heading down to Brands for some silly old chaps racing silly old cars...! ;)
Just can't understand what the fascination is with some bloke racing a Capri ;)
jvilleneuve2000 8 May 2000, 14:28 Thanks Carrie,(for the timetable)
I dident realise saturday would have so much stuff on. You should all go to silvestone instead of the historic racing!!!!!!!. Does anyone know if you can still get pit road walkabout tickets for saturday morning???????
Truckosaurus 9 May 2000, 10:26 I just got my tickets in the post yesterday, the pitroad walkabout is at 0730, better set that alarm clock :(

Well, as it happens, Craig, the powers that be have decided to have Peter racing on the Saturday only. Which means that the most important "silly old cars" racing on the Sunday will be the BRDC boys at Silverstone.
I'll leave the Saturday night race for Bluebottle. Knowing how much he loves Panoz engines, I'll be bringing him a new hearing aid on Sunday.
Besides, I owe you a beer and a hamburger.
Bluebottle 11 May 2000, 00:14 Yes, I'll be going on Saturday- see you all there!
(Thinks- how will they know it's me? simple- say "Hello 'Bottle" to everyone you meet until one of them is me!)
O.k, I'm the one with loud trousers, long hair, a Dutton Owners Club hat and a video camera.
jvilleneuve2000 14 May 2000, 21:17 That was the best days racing i have ever been to (saturday-silvestone), the american le man seris race was amazing, the whole show that Don Panoz put on was just like the advertisments for alms say "for the fans". Maybe Bernie Ecelstone should have gone to the race on saturday night and seen how fans should be treated. The drivers autogragh session was a very good idea, all of the drivers where pleased to be meating the fans and actually talked to you, (unlike the f1 drivers). The atmosphere created by the "le man" style pre-race build up was excellant.
I enjoyed the race so much that i went back today for the FIA GT race, it was good but it needs those GT1 cars to raise the excitment level.
carnt wait till LE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any comments from anyone who attended the ELMS?
Truckosaurus 15 May 2000, 16:07 The sunshine was glorious :)
We got there in time for the 0730 pitwalk,
the Panoz crew had their engine cover off and were warming the engine - marvellous :)
The ELMS race was a cracker, Audi and Panoz fighting all the way through, with BMW sneaking through almost unnoticed for the win - one each of the Audis and Panozes conked out on the last lap, the Audi managed to limp into the pits across the finish line.
The FIA GT race was a little dull in comparision. :(
The BRDC Historic Sportscars was as good as ever, plenty of sliding round the corners, definitely going to the Coys festival now :)
Bluebottle 15 May 2000, 23:37 An exellent day's racing- great value for money as well!- I walked around the whole circuit during the day taking video footage from several different vantage points.(I edited my 1999 Le Mans footage to about 20 mins, so I should be able to chop this to about 3!)
I watched the start of the ELMS race from the Stowe grandstand, then moved to Hanger straightfor as long as my ears could stand. I watched the closing laps from The Complex (They had stopped looking at tickets for the stands by that stage) An exellent vantage point but not a fast part of the circuit.
I got home at around 11:00 feeling completely Panozed.-Can't wait for Le Mans 2001!!
