Anglesey 2nd JuneEvilPumpkin 28 May 2002, 15:08 Anyone going to this? Kev Smith 28 May 2002, 16:59 I am not but a few of the Croft mob are. I am at Knokhill this weekend Kev Chris Y 28 May 2002, 17:08 I'm at Knockhill too! If you get the time, come and find blue/silver Mini #36 in the paddock :) EvilPumpkin 28 May 2002, 17:49 Kev - would you have an email for anyone organising this? I'm trying to get details as we're thinking of hopping on a ferry :) Kev Smith 29 May 2002, 11:11 Terri try graham.inness@ntlworld.com Chris will try to find you on Sat morning kev EvilPumpkin 29 May 2002, 11:16 Thanks for the email addy :) KayBee 29 May 2002, 12:39 EP are you coming over solely for the Rally Cross or do you fancy a trip to Cheshire for a BEMSEE bike meeting at Oulton Park on the Monday (3rd June) whilst you are this side of the Irish Sea? EvilPumpkin 29 May 2002, 12:44 Kaybee I'd love to but unfortunately I'm rostered to work on Monday so we have to come back Sunday nite :( :( :( EvilPumpkin 29 May 2002, 14:38 oh my word. I've just seen the line up for the bikes at Oulton. WHY did I agree to work this Monday. WHY! :banghead: Hey Kaybee - you got a friendly circuit doctor that could write me a note? :p KayBee 29 May 2002, 15:34 Unfortunately no! I thought the 3rd (June) was a Bank Holiday in Ireland so why are you working? Try and get over for the Anglesey Grand (another bike meeting) the dates of which (19/20th October) I believe coincide with another Irish Bank Holiday. EvilPumpkin 29 May 2002, 15:38 it is a Bank Holiday but we have to provide support to the call centre and it's my turn to cover the bank holiday :( I'll have a look at the dates for October though - that sounds cool! :) KayBee 29 May 2002, 15:47 Last year there was a huge number of riders and marshals - led by Maeve McDonald ("Mother Superior") and sponsored by Team Stena Line who hugely enjoyed themselves. Hope to see you then. EvilPumpkin 29 May 2002, 16:21 Oh yes I know the Mother Superior - she's actually about to be a mummy again! :) I'm an MMA member. We couldn't make it last year due to finances and stuff but definitely up for it this year! :) EvilPumpkin 30 May 2002, 15:33 well we're definitely going to Anglesey this weekend - if anyone else is going, come over and say hi! :) EvilPumpkin 3 Jun 2002, 09:44 oh my oh my oh my what a weekend! Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all the Croft marshals for taking care of us and making us feel so welcome - even if some of them do need to attend "lighting a BBQ 101".... ;) I will ignore the fact that Mr. Smith allegedly rang Graham Inness to say "you're in trouble - guess who's coming to Anglesey (cue dramatic music and a bolt of lightning) EVILPUMPKIN"..... Just for reference, if you feel like torturing Graham, I heartily recommend waiting until he's constructing a BBQ and then standing there going "Graham - is it ready yet? NOW is it ready? Is it ready yet? What does this bolt do? Is it ready yet...." I could probably take up several paragraphs about Anglesey - particularly marshalling the rallyX circuit, which can be a little bit hairy at times. Fair play to the organisers though - they actually visited one of the marshals' posts to enquire if they felt they were safe where they were, with the full intention of trying to get the post moved if not. Clerk Andy, if you're out there (and you tell me you are) HI! :) So - awards for the bizarrest incidents of the day go to: Carnegie for his wonderful 3 lap qualifier done with the bonnet open and against the windscreen for all three laps! The car that managed to go from last corner to the track exit on two side wheels - fab bit of stunt driving, even if he didn't mean to do it! Oh and final award goes to Graham for radio call of the day: "Post 4 to control..I require race stop and....oh never mind. Post 4 to control - car xxx rolled and continued" Anglesey - home of fast rallycross, thunderstorms and weird incidents!!! :) Thanks again to all the Croft guys and hope to see you all again soon(ish)! :) Alan Green 4 Jun 2002, 22:11 Terri / Grant Thank you for making the journey across and helping us make it a very entertaining weekend. Another two members added to the "abuse Graham at any given opportunity" club! HIghlights of the weekend at post 3: Carnegie in bonnet-up mode suddenly running out of track and giving post 3 sprinting practice, modified final contender performing two wheel stunts courtesy of one of his colleagues, and, finally, the supercar driver who pulled off in practice, hopped out of his broken car and said "there's more to this rallycross lark than you think"! Hopefully, we'll see you both again soon. ALAN EvilPumpkin 5 Jun 2002, 09:39 LOL - Hi Alan - take it you got home ok :) I must say I thought the Post 3 "swaying dance" was good fun. Car swerves one way, marshals lean that way, car swerves the other way, marshals lean the other way. I wasn't sure if you were getting ready to run or singing Barbershop Quartets :p We'd love to make it back over again, time and money permitting - hopefully to Croft this time! :) Steve Gibson 5 Jun 2002, 20:57 Originally posted by EvilPumpkin oh my oh my oh my what a weekend! STEVE GIBSON EvilPumpkin 5 Jun 2002, 21:24 LOL - don't worry Steve, we've left lots of him left for you :) I'm sure the twitch he has now whenever BBQs are mentioned will wear off eventually. And incidentally he and Amanda did a top job on a very scary post so all credit where credit is due! BBQ, funny we are having one at our race meeting in august, so if you know any good staff to give me a hand let me know Steve EvilPumpkin 5 Jun 2002, 21:47 Well I think the guys are better at putting fires out than starting them. (unless it's just afterburn of course...ask Graham... :p) DO: Let Alan and Steve help you DONT: Let Graham build the BBQ, James light the BBQ or let Steve bring huge lumps of chicken! DO: Ask me nicely and I'll send you over what's left of the brandy we used to get the flames going ;) EvilPumpkin 5 Jun 2002, 23:11 Birthday details especially for DJB :) Ok on Friday nite I went for a "drink" with the girls which turned into "ooh I wonder if we can manage to try every cocktail on this menu (6 pages not counting the ice cream based ones)" which resulted in me being a rather green pumpkin on the ferry over on Saturday. On Saturday nite, we had a BBQ, swapped marshalling stories, ate some rather good BBQd bananas (which is what happened to the majority of the brandy) and drank a few beers. Oh and spent a lot of time winding up Graham ;) Then there was the racing on Sunday. Happy now? :p djb 6 Jun 2002, 20:12 Yes. So on saturday, you were an evil squash then? When I was on an exchange program in Central America when I was 21, fried plantaines (a different sort of banana) were a staple food. I got to like them alot, even without brandy. EvilPumpkin 6 Jun 2002, 23:51 Graham builds a BBQ..... TwoSheds 7 Jun 2002, 13:59 Originally posted by EvilPumpkin Graham builds a BBQ..... I hope the prominently displayed first aid kit wasn't required... :D EvilPumpkin 7 Jun 2002, 14:23 Well we decided it was better to have it in easy reach :p Steve Gibson 7 Jun 2002, 14:35 Originally posted by EvilPumpkin Graham builds a BBQ..... what was that about a first aid kit, i could do with one, last night i managed to break both my arms ~(ouch ya) so will be missing for a couple of days, and no racing for me at cadwell this weekend. steve PaulPerkins 7 Jun 2002, 15:34 Yikes!
