The FIM have taken Yamaha/Haga's appeal into consideration in their latest ruling and have now decided to suspend Haga from racing for a period of three weeks while also stripping him of his points/trophy/prize money from South Africa.
This actually works out better for Haga than the original suspension as he only misses one round of racing action - Laguna Seca, whereas before, he would've missed two rounds in which he did fairly well compared to his title rival Colin Edwards.
Edwards hasn't gone all that well at Laguna Seca in the past, so perhaps Haga will still have a fighting chance at the Championship after the American round, though it looks as if Aprilia and Troy Corser will be left to fill those shoes.
Haga's suspension will also end before the Suzuka 8-hour race, one of, if not the most most important races to the Japanese manufacturers.
