Classic rallying in Staffordshire

If I am allowed to do so, I have some news on a couple of small events within the classic/historic rallying world, both taking place in South Staffordshire.

The next meeting of the Heart of England area centre of the Historic Rally Car Register, on the 20th November, may be of interest. Well known and popular co-driver, Rowand Prentice, is going to tell us all about his championship year as it was from the left seat of the Ford Escort Mexico of Kevin Broadhurst. It would be nice to see as many historic stage rally people as we might have in our area, as Rowand never does anything by half, and I can assure you that he is working hard on providing an enjoyable evening. So please, do come along, and if you wish you are most welcome to add your contribution to the evening. Also present hopefully, will be Jesse Shakespeare and Dean Brady, who have competed intermittently this year, also in an Escort. Apparently Dean is something of a wit, and I’m sure that alongside Rowand, we should be in for a lively and entertaining evening. Did Morecambe and Wise ever go rallying?

We meet at 8.00pm at the Foresters Arms, Woodlane, 1.5 m north of Yoxall, Staffs, DE13 8PH

The Foresters Arms is a traditional country pub, situated next door to Denis Welch, the Austin Healey specialist. They do meals, which you could book to enjoy before the meeting. Contact the landlord, Dave, on 01283 575258

Also of possible interest, the Rally of the Tests will be visiting Curborough Sprint Course early on Sunday 10th November. First car due at 0815. Due to the early time, the test is not being publicised, but you may wish to wander along and take a look.
