Minardi fan 22 Jul 2000, 00:03 In order to get your mitts on a European PS2, you will have to order it between 14th August and the release date at your local games store. Sony are only making enough to meet this initial demand. The PS2 will not be available freely until the new year. In addition to this, it will be limited to one per household.
What on earth are they playing at???
By the way, attempt to go to any of the official Playstation sites, and you will find no mention of this little ruckus...
That's correct. I ordered 2 PS2's and they told me I could only get one.
No wonder, with the technology that's inside it, the same technology that's used for nuclear war missiles, they were obviously afraid that by having two of those things in my house, I was going to dominate the world. :)
Minardi fan 22 Jul 2000, 01:02 Wha... How did you already order one???
Ralf's Girl 22 Jul 2000, 17:36 I heard that a PlayStation 2 is a lot more expensive than a PlayStation. Is this true?
Minardi fan 23 Jul 2000, 12:24 Try somewhere around £250 for the machine. That doesn't include any games...
Besides, the release line-up is not, similarly to the DC's, particularly inspiring. Looks like I'll be getting F1 2000 and Theme Park World at this rate.
3 games I CANNOT wait for: Dark Cloud, Splash Dive, and the PS2 version of Music. Not to mention Final Fantasy 9 which looks fantastic. :):):)
Ralf's Girl 23 Jul 2000, 13:59 £250!!!!!!!! I don't think I'll be getting one of those.I'll just stick to an average old PlayStation, I think...I want to get F1 2000 for PS, but my dad's not keen to buy it because he wasn't too impressed with F1 99. Can someone tell me whether or not F1 2000 is a better game on the whole, as I know EA Sports make decent games?
Stephanie, you might want to read what others on this board think about F1 2000.
Take a look at the thread 'F1 2000: The REAL facts.'
It's at http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1798
Ralf's Girl 23 Jul 2000, 19:00 I've read the comments and I suppose that it's a pretty good game. Sounds better than F1 99. I'll have to pester my dad about it...
Minardi fan 23 Jul 2000, 21:16 Why not spend only £20 and get the far superior F1 '97 (Championship Edition) instead???
Ralf's Girl 23 Jul 2000, 22:52 £20? How so? PlayStation games are usually about £30-£50 depending. I wasn't impressed with F1 97 when I played it. The engine noises weren't exactly clear. F1 95 is very good, but it's not as advanced, obviously. I think I'm sold on the idea of F1 2000 now.
Minardi fan 24 Jul 2000, 02:04 Apparently, as expected, Sony have scrapped their ordering system. You can pre-order PS2 from 7th Sept, but it will also be available in the shops.
can someone tell me this...PSX 2 is coming (yeh) can I still play my old games on the new system or will I have to (unwillingly) purchased new copies ?????
Minardi fan 25 Jul 2000, 01:44 PS2 plays all PS1 games, apparently even enhancing some (ie. F1 World GP's frame rate might speed up). Therefore, essential PS1 releases such as Final Fantasy 9 (November) and Driver 2 (also November) will still be essential!!! YAYAYAY!
So did anybody actually manage to find out if u can preorder a ps2 from the net? i think im just gonna wait till the new year. they will have dropped a wee bit in price and the games will be easier to get. has there been any word on how much the games will cost? i heard they will be around £30 so the are easily affordable. Does any 1 wanna buy a playstation 1 ? its got 15 games 2 control pads a steering wheel and 4 memory cards? just wondering? :)
Minardi fan 27 Jul 2000, 01:39 Games will be around the same price they are now - £30 to £40.
You preorder by going to your local games store, and they order them in. However, now Sony have scrapped their silly plans, you may not need to.
