Help,

After a posible very rapid lap at Spa in GPL my steering wheel now turns the wrong way and the gears go down not up.

Time for a new set, any suggestions for a good sim wheel & box. My last one was a Saitek.

Budget is about £100

I would love to help on this one, but I am dreadful at using steering wheels on games. I can't even manage Hockenheim on F1 '97 with a wheel...

I have a cheap set which I paid $50 Canadian for. The nice feature it has is the seqential shifter, but it is actually very inferrior to most other wheels!

If you want the best, on the banners above they sometimes advertise an ACT-Labs wheels, very nice, it has a !7! speed gated shifter AND Formula 1 style paddle shifting, also 280 degrees of turning. Problem is the whole thing is about $200, no idea how much your money that is though.

I forget who makes it, but the wheel with the - gasp - Ferrari licence has had some rave reviews written about it. Also - huge gasp - the Microsoft Force Feedback wheel is not too bad; it's a good turn, with the exception of an overly plasticy feel about it.

I myself have a Logitech (non-feedback) wheel, which is probably the best feeling one and it certainly won't break the budget. If I had a limitless supply of money, I'd by the Force Feedback version of this wheel. Or a HyperStimulator full-on racing tub!!

I've had several steering wheels during my career as a cyberspace racer but none of them were as good as the one I'm using now.
I'm very happy with my Saitek R4 steering wheel and pedals.
Especially the force feedback is very realistic.
It's a bit pricey though at almost 100 pounds but if you're looking for something almost as good as the real thing, this is it.

All

Thanks for the help, I've just gone out and brought a Logitech with force feedback £99.99 ($150 USD)

Already I have done my best times at Spa, Monza and the Glen in GP Legends and I've only had it 24 hrs.

Thanks anyway

Simon
