Hello all and welcome to this exciting new predictions competition. This is to be run separate from the normal predictions competition that we all know and love. For some obscure reason, the moderators asked myself and Sato san to run it and whats even more obscure is that we agreed! ;)
We hope that you'll find it as challenging to play as we will to run.
Below are two sets of questions, the first set, are 20 tie-breaker questions, these will be only used in the event of two or more people tying for the lead after the final round at Japan.
To allow every member a fair chance to submit their answers (due to holidays, work commitments etc) your answers must be submitted before Friday's first free practice of the Maylasian GP.
The second set of questions are for each individual grand prix and will be changing every race. Again, they must be submitted before friday's first free practice of each race weekend.
With both sets of questions, 1 point will be given for each correct answer. Should a race result goto appeal and subsequent result be altered due to that appeal then the results will alter accordingly.
So, here are your tie-breaker questions....
1. How many pole positions will Rubens score this season?
2. Which of the 2 Sauber drivers will finish higher in the final standings of the WDC?
3. How many points will the fourth place driver score in the WDC? (*)
4. What race will the drivers championship be decided?
5. Which team will finish 7th in the WCC?
6. Due to the new qualifying procedure, which driver (if any) will be the first to snatch the "shock" pole? (i.e..non- Ferrari/Williams/McLaren)
7. Which driver will be the first non- Ferrari/Williams/McLaren to score a podium?
8. What race will the constructors championship be decided on?
9. How many wins will the WDC RUNNER UP score throughout the season?
10. How many points finishes will Ferrari score this season?
11. How many times will McLaren fail to finish a race due to Technical reasons?
12. Should Juan Pablo's fastest ever lap at Monza be broken this season, who do you think will set the new fastest lap?
13. How many races will Jordan finish with both drivers still running?
14. How many points will BAR score in this years WCC? (*)
15. How many podiums will Williams score this season?
16. How many times will Kimi out-qualify DC?
17. Which team will finish 4th in the WCC?
18. Which driver will finish 8th in the WDC?
19. How many times will Pizzonia out-qualify Webber?
20. How many races will Michael win this season?
(*) if no-one guess the exact ammount, the closest within a tolerence of + or - 5% will gain the point.
Below are your questions for the Australian GP.....
1. How many cars will have 4 wheels off the track at Turn 1 at the start ? (in the air or off the circuit/gravel trap)
2. How many cars will be lapped by the leader by the chequerd flag ?
3. Who will be the first to throw it off the track in saturdays Qualifying? (leading to an non-continuation in qualifying)
4. Who will set the fastest race lap?
5. How many times will the safety car be used?
6. How many teams will have 2 cars finishing?
7. How many points will team Sauber score this race?
We hope you have fun with this competition..
All the best

Boots... whats your answer for number 19? and is 15 (race wins) your answer for number 20?
BootsOntheSide 28 Feb 2003, 18:39 Sorry - Pizzonia will outqualify Webber 5 times, and yes, I'm rpedicting 15 wins for Schumacher. That way I'll be ahppy whether I'm right or wrong (unless he does a clean sweep)
Sato san 28 Feb 2003, 18:46 It would be better if we only post the answers to all the questions.........that way it keeps it clear for us to see it all...
ie ,
1 = 3
2 = Heidfeld
3 = 60
4 = Hungaroring
etc etc.....
that way , me and Mr V can see what were doing !.....
cheers guys !

2. Is that LAPPED as in "passed them on the track/in the pits" as opposed to any cars that retire BEFORE being lapped?? If you're lapped twice does that score a "one"?? I will assume it does NOT score a "two". In that case, 11.

1. How many cars will have 4 wheels off the track at Turn 1 at the start ? (in the air or off the circuit/gravel trap)
It means two things, so you'll have to watch carefully, a) a car with any wheels off the track, could be Rafe style like last seasons Australian GP, or even Michael style like Adelaide, a car with a wheel off the track, no matter how many wheels, plus, b) how many cars tough the gravel in one way or another, be it 2 wheels or 4. Sato will be videoing it and obviously watching it a number of times to clarify before posting the answer.

2. Is that LAPPED as in "passed them on the track/in the pits" as opposed to any cars that retire BEFORE being lapped??
It means, of the cars running at the end of the race only, how many will not be on the lead lap.
Hope thats answered your questions.

Sorry for the confusion guys, right, to make it easy for everyone, including Sato who will be watching through blood shot eyes, the cars must a) Fly through the air, a la Rafe OZ '02 stylee and b) Have all four wheels off into the gravel trap, this way, it saves on confusion.
sorry about that, rookies mistake, we might just get our act together by Japan :p ;)

Right guys, just had a quick scan through some of your answers, the general consensious (so far) is.....
Rubens will score 4 poles,
Frentzen will finisher higher of the 2 Sauber drivers in the WDC,
The drivers championship will be decided in Hungary,
Jaguar will finish 7th in the WCC,
Trulli will "snatch" the first "shock" pole,
The WCC will be decided at Monza,
Montoya will beat his own fastest ever lap,
Renault will finish 4th in the WCC
and
It's a 3 way tie between Frentzen, Villeneuve and Trulli for 8th in the WDC.
Keep em coming guys.

AdamAshmore 4 Mar 2003, 22:44 Yeah! It's my secret weapon, he's set to replace, er, Heidfeld after, er, Imola.
Actually, I've changed my mind. Despite J.Alonso's speed I think Fernando will score more points, so can I change my choice to F.Alonso please! ;)

Mr V, can you change my answer to the "how many points finishes will mclaren blablabla" question into '27' instead of '32'? (forgot the DNF's of DC ;) )
®îjñtjûh , As R has pointed out about the editing time frame, your too late, but your answer refers to Ferrari not mcLaren!
Guys, a couple of things, firstly, alot of you are making far too many silly mistakes with your tie-breaker predictions, please be careful as you won't be able to change them after the 10 minute "editing window".
Secondly, on thursday, i'm off on holiday...yippeeeeeeee, although i won't be about to assist Sato with the comp....boo hoo. I'm sure that you will appreciate that Sato will have his work cut out (although the mods will be about to help should he need it ;) )so, go easy on him (for this race at least, when i'm back it's a different story, we make a formidable force :p  ) and remember, his decision is final, i, of course will back up any decision he makes, so no trying to appeal to my "better nature"
Have fun with the comp this weekend, hope all your favourite drivers have a good race (providing their names Juan Pablo ;) )

Geez, you just can't get away with anything on this board - hehehehe and you can't find a website with accurate info - I still can't find if Fisi has a drive!
Ummm - Heidfeld

6. Due to the new qualifying procedure, which driver (if any) will be the first to snatch the "shock" pole? (i.e..non- Ferrari/Williams/McLaren)
Dammit, I thought Jaguar was non- Ferrari/Williams/McLaren - OK, ummmm, Webber (it'll be a "shock" for him too!)

10. How many points finishes will Ferrari score this season? Whatdoyamean 198 is impossible??! LOL
OK (putting down the glass of vino) um, so the question is "how many times will Ferrari score in the points?" I'm not sure if there's 16 or 17 races, so that's 32 or 34 scoring opportunities, ummmm, the winning answer is 28
Mr V thanks for taking the time to correct my mistakes and run this gig again this year!
