DanFlag 11 Jul 2003, 20:35 Is it a UTO ? an Unidentified Towed Object ? racingdick 11 Jul 2003, 21:05 my observations are 1. its a singleseater.... 2. Raced in 750Mc 3. Look late 70's/80's 4. A class lower or similar to the Formula ford best bet is wait for jr ewing he's pretty knoledgable with these kinda things woodyracing 12 Jul 2003, 03:04 looks a bit like a Scarab to me,, better let the Vee guys answer though. DavidStHubbins 12 Jul 2003, 07:38 Maybe it's the mysterious McLaren Ron is too embarrassed to race this year? av8rirl 12 Jul 2003, 12:30 With Hella and 750MC stickers on the side, its definitely a Vee. I think Hella sponsored the 750MC F Vee championship around 95-97. Looks like a Scarab tub but I've never seen that bodywork on a Scarab. Where did you find it? Do you own it? Is someone selling it? Give us more info please. 429CJ 12 Jul 2003, 19:58 One thing I'm sure: It is not a Veemax. gttouring 12 Jul 2003, 21:35 It looks like an old wrecked single seater, a good clue to not buy it. twisted frame. no wheels. Where's the motor and suspensions-it is a tub huh? Oh a SLED! for winter time! take it to the hills (or better take it to the wrecking yard and bury it.) seriously, A formula Vee, 70's-not a jedi...I'll go with scarab as well it looks closest to that to me ss_collins 13 Jul 2003, 12:34 I'll have some better pics of the chssis and body on tuesday - the chassis is now restored, but the bodywork is the same.. I'll also have more info on it - yes I'm probably gonna buy it later today (simply becuase its very cheap). come on Vee guys help me out... chezza 13 Jul 2003, 12:47 Hope its not too much of a state when you go down to see it! ss_collins 14 Jul 2003, 13:03 apparently (according to Alan Harding) its a 1969 Mk1 Austro, possibly ex works and did race at monaco.has been laid up (apart from a couple of races) since a big shunt at brands in 1996. JR Ewing 14 Jul 2003, 14:02 It's a piece of sh*t! You get what you pay for... ss_collins 14 Jul 2003, 14:49 but when its restored to 1969 spec... chezza 14 Jul 2003, 15:14 U said that it had had some work done on it since the pictures had been taken, how much had been done?! ss_collins 14 Jul 2003, 16:11 not a lot, chassis has been cleaned up and re painted chezza 14 Jul 2003, 16:13 I see...means u've got loads of work to do on it! ss_collins 14 Jul 2003, 16:54 yup - christmas holidays. Rob29 14 Jul 2003, 18:13 Originally posted by ss_collins apparently (according to Alan Harding) its a 1969 Mk1 Austro, possibly ex works and did race at monaco.has been laid up (apart from a couple of races) since a big shunt at brands in 1996. If it is a 1969 car it cannot have raced in Monaco as the only FVee race there was in 1967.Replaced by F.France(Renault) in '68. ss_collins 14 Jul 2003, 18:32 perhaps it didn't then - Alan seems to think its one of the very early Austros - were there any Austros there in 1967? did Austros even exist then? this is very curious. av8rirl 14 Jul 2003, 18:51 If its an Austro, here's some more info: http://www.jr-and-assoc.demon.co.uk/austrovee.htm http://www.clarinet.fi/~spitkane/FVee.htm |
