Clinkard / Gilboy - Still rememberedbacon sandwich 1 Sep 2003, 23:15 Today marks the first anniversary of the deaths of Tony Clinkard and Stefan Gilboy at Cadwell Park - one of the worst days in club racing. You are still remebered guys. RIP. Peter Mallett 2 Sep 2003, 11:23 Tragic day. Thanks for giving us that reminder. Pete Howarth 1 Sep 2004, 08:53 It's now 2 years since that tragic day and are still remembered SusieD 11 Oct 2005, 14:26 Nice to hear my brother still remembered...Tony's son, Alex is 14, and on a recent holiday in Turkey took a lap or 5 on a go-kart circuit in the hills...He was stupendous! A slight scuff with a pile of tyres sent his Mum Maria, sister Gabriella and I gasping, but he didn't even pause, just flicked the throttle and brake and roared away. Understandably, perhaps, he is not being encouraged to show the motor racing world how it is in his blood...just like it was in his father's. Anyone remembering our Dad, "Clink" Clinkard, please feel free to write to him here...he's moved in with me at the age of 84, but is still great company. susiehollyjonny@hotmail.com falcemob 11 Oct 2005, 14:35 Susie, I doubt those who knew them will ever forget Tony or Stefan. They will once again be honoured on Sunday 23rd Oct at the SRGT trophy race at Mallory park. SusieD 12 Oct 2005, 21:31 Thanks..., If I didn't have old Dad to look after, and if it didn't still hurt, I'd be there...maybe in a year or two I will be able to go back? Maybe bringing Alex?? I have fond memories of changing my (now 21 year old!) daughter's nappy on the trailer wheel rests, and taking her down to the start so she could hear what REAL noise was! xxx Pete Howarth 12 Oct 2005, 23:27 Tony and Stefan are still remembered 3 years on. SusieD 13 Oct 2005, 21:32 Thanks, Pete...I'm passing your comments on to old Dad... :) falcemob 6 Sep 2007, 17:57 I was reminded the other day that it is now 5 years since that tragic day when we lost Stefan and Tony. They are still remembered in our series. falcemob 16 Oct 2007, 21:50 It was nice to meet Tony's daughter Gabriella at the SRGTC trophy meeting last Sunday at Mallory. I hope you enjoyed your day and found some more information about your father. SusieD 19 Mar 2008, 11:27 Okay...the first anniversary of Dad's death took place quietly, just me and a bottle or two of rough red last week (14th March). His ashes were scattered over the wreck of the Manchester in the Med, last summer, Maria and I are taking all 4 kids there this July to revisit the site. Took my son Jonny (16) and daughter Holly (23) to a go-kart rink in Ipswich, courtesy of Chris Bird to work off some sadness...they were demons! I felt Tony and Dad watching over my shoulder...It's nearly six years since since Tony was killed at Cadwell...I'm nearly up to visiting the course soon, although his wife, Maria can't bring herself to go yet. She's very lonely, if any of you are in the area of Harwell, please call her, she'd appreciate it. Ella, his daughter has spoken of her pleasure at meeting some of you, her Dad's mates. All the best to you all in the coming season...take care!!! Susie xxx Clive 31 Mar 2008, 12:56 Susie, you know I'll help in any way I can. Just ask.:gogirl: |
