Results for BRDC Walter hayes FF1600jadlamracing 8 Nov 2003, 14:26 Any news/results please post. Barry Pomfret 8 Nov 2003, 18:43 Gavin Wills won the first heat, Peter Daly heat 2 and Matthew Rivett heat 3, I think there was a coming together between Rivett and Foster on the first lap resulting in Foster going off, he was pushed out of the gravel and fought back to 7th. Ian Sowman 8 Nov 2003, 18:54 See the other thread that I've just started for more... Redracer77 8 Nov 2003, 19:27 Is it just me or does Mr Rivett always seem to be involved with accidents...? Ian Sowman 8 Nov 2003, 19:41 I don't think it is just you Redracer... JEB 8 Nov 2003, 20:42 Lots of excitement at Silverstone ! Attend tomorrow in person if you can !! Barry Pomfret 9 Nov 2003, 18:06 Rivett pulled off and retired in his semi.Wet final interuppted by two yellow and black sessions, won by Foster, Daly second and Leslie in his Royale RP 24 was third. Wills either retired or fell off a couple of laps from the end. I am sure Ian Sowman will post a full report when he gets home. JEB 9 Nov 2003, 18:10 Thank you everyone for your support at Silverstone this weekend. Ian Sowman 9 Nov 2003, 18:49 Just made it home Barry - about to start work! PaulSands 10 Nov 2003, 16:06 any reason why MST havent posted on their site? I noticed one of their truacks loading up on Sunday after the last race so they seemed to be there providing the raceday timing Ian Sowman 10 Nov 2003, 16:24 Paul I don't think BRDC are one of the clubs that pay MST to put the results online - although they did for F3/GT meetings this year. JEB might know for certain. PaulSands 10 Nov 2003, 16:27 aha it's as simple as that :) 4thgear 10 Nov 2003, 18:27 Is it just me or does Mr Rivett always seem to be involved with accidents...? I was watching the rivett foster incident and it i think its bit unfair to blame rivett on that one. he was actually on the apex with foster out very wide on a very odd line he turned in and hit rivett. i remember seeing it and thinking, why is he doing that. rivett was on an orthadox line and quicker. my son spoke to foster after and he never blamed rivett. he was just happy to have a chance to be in it still. I suppose the front guys have more to fight for ie more competitive and always run close to each other. mattsdad 10 Nov 2003, 21:17 I guess its pretty uncool for a drivers dad to come on here and start defending them, but as Matt does not have access to the internet at the moment he has asked me to defend his honour, but it looks as though 4thgear has done that already. Many thanks whoever you are..What you say is broadly true, except that Matt anticipated a problem as Joey moved to the right to take his line through Brooklands, and realising that they would both be taken out he chose to brake heavily and attempt to avoid the inevitable. He half spun and unfortunaely tagged Joey's car with his left rear, causing him to spin into the gravel. They were both fine about things a bit later on, as was Don Hardman who called it a typical hard charging racing incident. Redracer, I think you are being rather harsh.Yes, Matt has had some accidents, but name me any front running FF1600 driver who has not. He is known to be a hard competitor, but extremely fair. Ask John Hutchinson, with whom he had many breathtaking battles at Combe. Very hard, but vary fair. Ask Alex Ames, with whom he again has had many hard battles, but with no accidents. The list goes on. The truth of the matter is that if you want to run at the front, and battle at the front then you have to have a reputation as a hard driver, but equally you have to ensure you give the other guy(s) some space, something that Matt learned very early in his career and which he endeavours to do all the time but which, sadly, some other competitors fail to appreciate. Matt was desperately sorry not to have been able to complete the weekend, but the hole in the block of the engine is big enough to sail the Titanic through.....OK rant over, back to the forum... Ian Sowman 10 Nov 2003, 21:23 Matts Dad Just to clarify my own position - my tongue was in my cheek a little bit as I have seen Matt be quick at Combe and elsewhere over the past few years. I saw the accident and my own instinct was racing incident at the time. I'm sure he's got no worse a 'record' than many other drivers! PaulSands 10 Nov 2003, 21:25 Matt's dad...not uncool but WAY COOL :) that's what dad's are for ;) Redracer77 10 Nov 2003, 21:48 Hi Matts Dad, I was only asking the question. I have not even seen matt drive until this weekend but had heard from the festival that Matt and Gavin like to share each other cockpits!! So when i heard Matt and Joey had a clash I just posed the question to the forum. Isn't that what the forum is for. I did watch matt have a very good semi until the engine problem but he does look like a hard charger. I cant talk as I crashed out of the festival myself (although on my own!!) Regards mattsdad 11 Nov 2003, 00:10 Redracer, quite agree that is what the forum is for, just as Matt has a right of reply. A good debate never harmed anyone, so long as it is fair. And Ian, thanks for the clarification. Case closed, for the moment I suspect!!!!!!! DavidStHubbins 25 Apr 2004, 16:25 Mr Rivett is a very fair racer from my experience. (For what it's worth!) kartingdad 25 Apr 2004, 18:48 Yup. There's nowt wrong with being a gobby dad! diz 25 Apr 2004, 18:49 Sometimes there is. |
