Fun Kart race at 3 Sisters

Redracer77

I mentioned in another post about having a fun kart race at 3 sisters in Wigan, to see who has the best FF1600 championship (more fun than competition).

This could be a very fun kart race if different championships have a least 3 drivers in the race (with a minimum of 10 championships racing). You could get as many people as possible racing from NWFF, SOM, CCFF, Formula Honda, ARP F3, URS FF2000, BARC FR, Monoposto etc and with equal karts see who is the best!! Much cheaper than dragging your FF1600 cars to Spain!!! We could even get Journos and Marshals to enter teams?

Make it an enduro and have 3 drivers per 2 hour race. If more than 3 per champs then draw each team out of a hat to make it as even as possible..?

What do you think?

If we have some interest for a bit of preseason fun then post your ideas here

it sounds ambitious but if its a one off fun race, I'll be up for it :)

3 sisters, and thruxton or clay seem the best options.

I like it. If to make it more interesting, why not try to do some sort of charity thing, so for the racers its fun to see who's the best, but its for a good cause.

I'd be happy to take part.

Me too I am sure I can get a couple of other racers to come along, weekend's are best no holiday left!

I think it would be a good idea for a 2pm Sat race - enduro for 2 or 4 hours. 3 people per team (each team must have the same championship in). Mattray maybe you could get Gav in your team to stop you both from crashing into each other...! (christmas joke sorry...!!)

If we have 6 drivers from one championship then we should draw the teams out of a hat.

Redracer77
27 Dec 2003, 12:46
Woody what type of car do you race - Formula Honda? If so try and get as many people as poss interested so your champs can have a couple of teams in the race.

I'd be up for it if you could stomach a tin-top incursion from the Ford Saloons....

Could suggest a great charity too if its' at 3 Sisters...Alder Hey Childrens hospital that looks after my 20 month old daughter who has real serious heart problems...

I am up for that Goforit500. How would the charity thing work? Charge a little bit more than the entry fee?

Saloons would be welcome. The more the merrier!!!

J, team sorted for the Oman 24 hour race I think, may have one more space - you interested?

just a though redracer, have you ever seen the karts at three sisters??? Equal there not.

Actually, thats all good. Im sure our friend Mr Barfoot would "sort out" the NWFFORD guys before the rest of the teams. Three Sister it is then.......LOL

27 Dec 2003, 17:26
Kartingdad, that is part of the fun of it (as long as we get a good kart!!!).

I think we should have it in Feb before the season starts? I will check the dates with Ian, cheers Diz.

Diz will you be able to send an email round to the NWFF troops when we get a date and see how many we could get. I assume Kartingdad will be sending the boys out to battle???

Combe boys could you contact some people as well. Could be a good launch day for www.clubff1600.co.uk but more importantly a day to have fun and raise a bit of cash and see which champ is the best on the day.

Just a thought for next year. What about trying to organise a similar event for charity at the Autosprout Show, that way you would get more response from the speccies and hopefully make even more money for charity?

I'll have to have a word with a few marshalling mates to see if we can drag a few butts off chairs too :)

28 Dec 2003, 11:20
Hi Red,

If this is a goer, maybe an extra couple of quid on the entry & maybe the teams could raise a bit themselves...

I got x per lap for the Willhire last season and pulled in about Ł500 which I gave to Macdonald House at Alder Hey. Macdonald House provides accomodation for families of sick kids, a place to chill out a bit but be within a minute of the wards if needed, as we were one night last year when Cait was rushed back into intensive care at 3am one morning following a temporary shunt operation...

Macdonald House and/or Alder Hey have fundraising offices that can supply sponsorship forms and any assistance needed..

Cheers,

Brian

Having over forty could bring your average grid size within sight of the NW c'ship! :p As for age, there is no substitute for experience and we do have some OAPs [Oulton Ancient Pilots] in the NW, along with some whippersnappers to keep the old buggers on their toes. and now withdraws before the onslaught begins.

You could always challenge the BARC NW championship (Eruropas) - I believe that there's one or two more experienced drivers in that championship.

I will have the date sorted by tomz mid morning. I like the idea of having it before the BRSCC NW dinner but was hoping it would be before the season starts - maybe Feb?

I will also let everyone know the price after some hard neg with ARDS!!!

It would be fun to make it a annual event where the winning championship gets to pick the karting track and the charities to be supported (and do all the organising!!).

I would like to give half the profit to Christys Hospital in Manchester as well as Alder Hey Childrens Hospital? I assume that would be okay?

darcym
29 Dec 2003, 00:55
Redracer, sounds perfect and a lot of fun !.

Can't think of a better way to do something good, while racing. The idea of an anual event and the winning team selecting track/charity is a nice thing, and could raise the profile of club motorsport as your initial thoughts wanted to do (clubff1600).

I'll try to sniff around some companies for a prize, or see if they will sponsor any of the teams etc.

Mattray - pm's will be sent shortly, and I'd love to race with you and Richard...

Hi all,

Just heard about this site and from what i have seen looks pretty interesting.

I take it that Redracer57 is chris. Nice name!

Anyway, the idea of a kart race sounds great. I'd definately be up for it and i'm sure my dad wouldn't mind having a go as well seeing he hasn't been in a race since 97!!!!

Redracer77
29 Dec 2003, 18:21
Hi David,

does your dad like to get beaten by his son!!!

We look like we will have over 30 teams for the race which should be fun. Just waiting for Malc Barfoot to get back to confirm the price and date. It looks like 6th March is fav but will have to wait and see.

Looks like NWFF will have a big entry in the kart race.

D_Marshall
29 Dec 2003, 18:33
Should be a good day out then and a bit of fun before the season starts.

The only problem in racing with my dad is that if he beats me i'll never hear the end of it and if he races half as good as he talks then i might be a bit worried. Doubt it though!!!! lol

Diz I am very happy that you have not ribbed me for Boltons poor show on boxing day... didn't get much better on Sunday either!!!

Swifty, as soon as Mr Barfoot bothers to ring me back I will post the date and price etc. Not sure what to do about teams - do we let people arrange own teams or pull out of a hat teams for each championship? What do people think?

NWFF have about 4 teams so far but as soon as I have more details I will ask our very nice team leader...Diz....to send an email round to our boys (and girls sorry sarah and Natalie!!) to see if we can get more. We have teams from SOM and Combe as well as BARC FR and Formula Vee. Maybe Ian Sowman can get something in Autosport to get more Championships involved.

As far as I know the people in NWFF who have shown interest are -
Me!
Andy and David Marshal
Andy and Ian Gough
Stu Gough
David Bailey

Jason Minshaw and Dave Hart have posted but not shown much interest as yet. I will post a new thread on who has entred as we get going.
