Just flying a kite here. I now have the "provisional" NW FF1600 Calendar for 2004. DON'T ASK because I can't announce it until Thursday 8th January and it is already wrong and I am trying to remedy this. One race meeting now can't take place on it's scheduled date ........ unless .........
Now this is where I want to ask a question.
If there was to be a round at Oulton on a Saturday and a double header [cheaper than normal entry fee] at Anglesey on the Sunday, who would do both?
Bear in mind I could arrange for the Oulton races to be early ones so you could make your way home [or to Anglesey] at a reasonable hour. I could also arrange a test day at Anglesey the week before.
which circuit at oulton Diz ref Ratios.
Also seeing as you seem able to organise most things at Anglesey we would obviousley need sunshine to make it worth our while.
J.
BRSCC don't know which versions of Oulton they will be using yet, only the dates.
Redracer77 5 Jan 2004, 18:56 sounds an okay idea to me but 2 points -
1) 25% of the Championship in one weekend?
2) If you have an off at Oulton you could lose 3 rounds...
which weekend Diz ref clashes with historic stuff
Redracer77 5 Jan 2004, 18:58 I will take a stab at which layouts they will be using - all Foster apart from 2!!
Stop fishing Jase. If I let it slip now, Mr Burns would have to kill me.
kartingdad 5 Jan 2004, 19:12 The problem with doing the test at Anglesey the week before is that you go all the way to Anglesey for 1 day and then again the week after, so there is no real cost saving for us I'm afraid. So please forget it Diz.
What about a double header @ Oulton anyway - and use 2 of the different track configurations available - say Island and the full International, or better still, run then anti clockwise.
Depends on the weekend matey.
Now if it was a Bank Holiday, that would be great. Sunday monday at Anglesey. Like redracer57 says though, 3 rounds in one weekend is a bit much.........

Unfortunately you can't run anti clockwise because of the armco overlaps which would then be facing the wrong way.
Who decides which track configuration is used?
:p :D :p :D :p :D :p :D
kartingdad 5 Jan 2004, 20:01 I know that, but Blue Nose would get a real kick out of it as he would be racing like a 'real man' an a 'real man's' track.
Actually, you could insert the words 'rally driver' instead of 'real man'. LOL!!!
I remember Mr Bluenose bringing back some right wrecks. The butcher. Remember the warning at Anglesey BlueNose for taking too much kerb. I think that's the weekend you had the suspension failure on the pits straight!!!!!!!!
Why didn't you by a Subaru?
Redracer77 5 Jan 2004, 20:32 lets face it, it is a bad idea - full stop
Unless......
You have testing on the Friday at oulton - race Sat then off to Anglesy for a BBQ dinner!! Test at Anglesey on the Sunday morning/afternoon (gives people time to mend if they had an off at Oulton) then race on the Monday
This can only work on a bank holiday like Walshy says
Could Mr Peacock not allow a change in the dates that we use Anglesey.
I for one would love a full Bank Holiday weekend up there. Arrive Thursday night for Friday Testing. Qualify and Race Saturday/Sunday and Monday. Now that would be brilliant.
Can you sort that one out Diz you man of many talents you........
kickstart 5 Jan 2004, 21:07 Does anyone know the testing dates for Oulton this year as I need to shake the cobwebs out.
blue nose 5 Jan 2004, 23:27 Good Idea Diz I will be up for it!! Clockwise or Anti clockwise leave the boys at home LOL
Redracer77 5 Jan 2004, 23:58 Kickstart, I don't think OP is open till April
This is a thorny one: on the one hand, the idea of 2 races in one day at Anglesey is appealing but not when Oulton is the day before. I seem to remember there being huge opposition from a large percentage of last year's field from running races on consecutive week ends, me thinks that this is really too much. I can imagine that those people who pay for their cars to be prepared for them would really be cringing: 2 test days, and 3 races in one month? and that's before we know what other delights you have in store for us either side of this particular suggested week end!
How about the 3 day meeting as Walshy suggested? or what about races on a Sunday with testing on the Saturday? Just a thought.
As I say David, I'm only flying a kite. We are constrained by the dates available to car racing at both OP and AY. Maybe Gus could do one day, out of his World Wildlife Fund grant. If people want to save up for the next race, SOM has a treat in store. Wait till Thursday.
Now there's an idea: Gus in the car. but, hang on, wouldn't he have to under go a wookie (for those of us with a lisp) test first?
From a tail end charlie!!!!!!
Perhaps this would be a good weekend to try out a new idea of more affordable motorsport?
How about no testing at Oulton the friday before do the practice and race, no testing at Anglesey do practice two races not allowed to change ratios all weekend unless the driver does it. Only one set of tyres for the whole weekend. If you get a puncture you can get a tyre from diz that is legal but it is special as it has been lying around the back of a garage for at least four years to become nice and hard.
Just a thought?
On a serious note it is difficult to comment as it depends what is happening either side of this suggested weekend.
goforit500 6 Jan 2004, 16:58 I like that ACZAK.....:-)
StephenRae 7 Jan 2004, 10:59 Aczac...your first post is very perceptive, you described my average weekends'racing!!
