It won't go far! Congradulations thou. Most drivers don't ever get that much sponsorship unless its from family. Its not from a relative is it? Don't disappoint me. mattray 31 Jan 2004, 10:48 is that in addition to the 12 sets of tyres youv'e been given?? Share the wealth!! diz 31 Jan 2004, 11:40 Matt & Jackaroo It is an anonymous donation of £1000 for the Championship, not for Alan himself. Thank you, whoever you are, it is much appreciated. diz kartingdad 31 Jan 2004, 13:40 And I can confirm that the £50 Teng tool voucher system will be carried on for '04. Redracer77 31 Jan 2004, 14:22 Give half to the drivers and then half to the marshals as they could do with new overals etc. They spend a lot of time helping us so maybe we should help them as well...... kartingdad 31 Jan 2004, 15:13 Perhaps the BRSCC could give them some money instead of us - they have enough of ours after all. I reckon I must have paid for about 4 blazers at least last year alone! JnrJnr 31 Jan 2004, 15:18 How about an awning of some description for the race centre? If we just split the money up, it wont go far and will soon be forgotton. It should be spent on somthing that lasts long-term. That way we would all appreciate more. Again as Diz said, thankyou whoever it is who has provided the money. Redracer77 31 Jan 2004, 19:57 or sponsor www.clubff1600.com !!! GolddustMini 31 Jan 2004, 21:28 spill tea, are you mad?????? swift 1 Feb 2004, 00:49 Thank you to whoever made the donation and I agree with Jnr Jnr what ever the money is used for, it should be for the benefit of all the drivers and something that will stand the test of time. Now,exactly what that should be, is a good question. JnrJnr 1 Feb 2004, 01:00 I dont know if this would work or not..... How about a spare engine is bought??? It would have to be first come first served basis if it was needed, and who ever used it would put an agreed amount into a kitty to have it re built at the end of the season?? The engine could only be available to people who are registered members of the series. Not sure if this is a good idea or not...any thoughts on somthing similar to this idea?? diz 1 Feb 2004, 01:07 Ian, We already have a spare championship engine - first come, first served, via Neil Bold. dhart has come up with a good suggestion that would benefit the drivers and the memory of Moose. It isn't anything to do with the Race Centre though. More news when more thought has gone into it. swift 1 Feb 2004, 01:09 Originally posted by JnrJnr I dont know if this would work or not..... The engine could only be available to people who are registered members of the series. Not sure if this is a good idea or not...any thoughts on somthing similar to this idea?? Not a bad idea at first glance but I think Neil Bold has a"floating" engine for use at most rounds available from Dave Hart. Another thought that just come to mind: how about a donation towards the rescue unit for equipment or the medical centre? God forbid any of us will need the latter but being formula ford drivers, most of us have used the former! JnrJnr 1 Feb 2004, 01:10 Well, i say you can never have too many spare engines. Remember hunting around the paddock for us Diz?? It wasnt the best idea anyway, so will look forward to hearing Mr Harts. Can we not have a clue as to what his idea is, then we could all put some thought into it? GolddustMini 1 Feb 2004, 01:13 its a great idea ian, something to consider, but to me i cant see how it would work properly. i prefer your awening idea personally, something useful to everyone at every meeting, thats a top idea! Athgoe Racing 1 Feb 2004, 01:13 I don't think neal has any time to build a spare engine he'll find it hard to finish the engine on the floor in time for the first race, especially with Golddustmini drinking tea all the time! It would be less 'trailer driving miles' than nipping up the Naas Road [M7 is it?] to Mondello Athgoe Racing 1 Feb 2004, 01:26 It would'nt be fair on the NW guys getting beet on there own soil. Ill see, i have 17 race's between mondello and kirkistown and then brand's and silverstone W.H.T, i was going to do the king of the kents champ if kirkistown was included and a few others were intrested to but it didnt happen so ill have more time for my guniess goldustmini MikeM 1 Feb 2004, 11:14 Very nice gesture, what about really nice permanent trophies for each class for each years champion? (With replicas to keep) Imagine the names on them in, say, 20 years time? blue nose 1 Feb 2004, 11:45 Good idea Mike...a moose trophy that could be kept for a year with all the winners names engraved on it a permanant memory for Colin. diz 1 Feb 2004, 12:21 Too late Alan. You missed a lot in your two year sabbatical. We already have a very nice Moose Trophy. Stuart Gough was the inaugural winner at last years Anglesey Moose Trophy race. As a witty aside - and before Sprocket comes on to mention it himself - our tame commentator made a boo boo [not his inaugural one, I hasten to add] at the first ever car meeting at Anglesey about six years ago. There wasn't a commentary position at the time and he was set up on the grass opposite the pits, commentating out of his Renault Clio. I was acting as a kind of Martin Brundle to his James Allen. As he switched on his kit, he burst into full Sproston flow with the immortal words "Good afternoon and welcome to the FIRST INAUGURAL race meeting at Anglesey Circuit" I then made my first correction of the day, asking him when the second inaugural meeting would be. On another occasion at Oulton, talking about a Monoposto race, he said something along the lines of "... followed by 'Bloggs in the only Van Diemen in the race". diz pointed a quizical finger up towards a second Van Diemen coming over Hill Top. Richard continued "and 'Soap' in another one" BTW, there were a few VDs' in the race. Methinks he is worthy of his own "I remember when Sprocket said this" thread. blue nose 1 Feb 2004, 13:17 Diz I have seen a photo of it thats why I am suggesting a more worthy one of Moose just an Idea diz 1 Feb 2004, 13:26 Alan, Believe me, that trophy wasn't cheap. I'll show you the bill if you want. Your grand wouldn't get anything better. Anyway, there are other Moose related plans afoot. Give me a bell. sprocket 1 Feb 2004, 14:30 Diz,thanks. All the competitors have to do is make sure they do'nt get the favorite of ours the --: "Fr--c--tti" commentary. sprocket 1 Feb 2004, 14:43 Reply 2 the sequel: The motto four all commentries this season :Never rude,Plesantly abusive !! Walshy 1 Feb 2004, 22:16 We all know that the Moose Race Centre is a great idea, but we can be prone to getting very wet if the weather turns sour. I was recently in Costco and they had this giant awning. Really easy to put up. It's about 20feet x 10feet. It has sides all around and the best of it is, it only costs £130 + VAT. You could put the race centre and all the tables and chairs under it. It would also give us a social club at Anglesey for us all to hang out in the evening.. Just a thought. With regards to helping the Marshall's, I agree the BRSCC should be doing more for them. The donation was for the racing series, so it should be used towards that. Kartingdad. Could you PM me with some more details on the TENG promotion. Cheers. blue nose 2 Feb 2004, 00:19 Thats a good Idea Chris I saw one of those awnings in there today I never saw how small it folded down too. kartingdad 2 Feb 2004, 01:02 I've got one that we already use as an awning. The big problem is holding it down if it's windy. Trust me, it can be a big problem - I used to run a company that hired marquees and portal frame structures. When you have seen 15m wide x 40m long structure lift off the ground you will worry. I don't want to be neggy, but they can be a bit of a liability, especially if you cant tie them down. I usually attach one side to our van, the other side to the trailer and if it's breezy overnight, take the legs off and tie the centre roof bars to the race car. Apart from that, they are a doddle! kartingdad 2 Feb 2004, 01:10 Walshy, I don't know how to do the PM thing. Basically, each nwff meeting Diz allocates each driver a number and pulls one out of a hat at the drivers briefing. If you are the lucky driver, at the end of the season, I submit your name to Teng, you phone them up and claim £50 worth of tools. All you have to do is carry a couple of Teng stickers on your car (in contrasting colours eg no black stickers on a black car) to qualify. I have to say, the more sponsors you have on your car, the more pro the series and you look. Yet another major benefit of racing in the NWFF series. JnrJnr 2 Feb 2004, 02:14 The awning idea is a good idea, im sure someone else already mentioned it though on page one..... An e-z up style awning would be within budget.... i think swift has one so he could fill us in of the merits of these devices. GolddustMini 2 Feb 2004, 02:29 i think it was you u numpty :p those ez up awnings are ok, til it starts to get windy then they really do easy up like a cheap tarts dress... surely a grand would get a really good awning attached to the race centre so its all in one entity either that or im hedging my bets on a golden tea spoon, gold plated tea urn and some proper quality tea bags... MikeM 2 Feb 2004, 10:12 I thought the Teng deal was only for class A last year. Kartingdad, from the way you describe this - does it apply to everyone? (Or was I wrong about last year?) kartingdad 2 Feb 2004, 12:14 Sorry, it's for the post 86 class only, just as it was last year. Walshy 3 Feb 2004, 00:01 Cheers for that KD. I will seek you out in the paddock on the Black Dog Day and have some stickers off you please. Do you have to Register with Teng? Back on the awning. The Ez-up are great, but too over priced. This awning can fit in the Moose unit and with regards to holding it down, I am sure we can all lend a spare wheel or two per meeting to tie it to. It can also be lashed to the Moose centre so it won't be going anywhere. It really is a robust bit of kit. The poles are like lightweight versions of scaffold pole. We could practically get us all under at Anglesey. Role on the NWFF drivers B-B-Q..... Can I be in charge of the music............ blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:06 Chris I will get one next time I go to Costco Dont worrie Diz I will buy it for the lads? GolddustMini 3 Feb 2004, 00:13 you;d be suprised at how easily the wind can pick up an awning or gazebo, even when tyres are used to strap it down, how fast to huge yachts go................. blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:15 we will have to find some fat tea drinkers to anchor it down Walshy 3 Feb 2004, 00:15 Meant to add. One of my mates borrowed one for a B-B-Q in his garden. It took two people approx 10 minutes to put it together. Maybe Diz could get someone to do Transfers for the roof and sides with the 'Moose' decals as well as associate sponsors and the generous individual who put the money forward. blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:17 So I can have my good name on the side lol. Walshy 3 Feb 2004, 00:20 Oh right so you are getting it. Riiiiigggghhhttt. It's not nicked is it???????? LOL..... blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:22 If I could I would But I cant so I shall not!!!!!!! blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:25 So come on Diz what is your new name going to be? Walshy 3 Feb 2004, 00:33 'The Race Veteran's Clinic'.... blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 00:54 I asked him to fix the dog but he never replied? blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 01:10 Do sand bags work at Anglesey Chris? jminsh 3 Feb 2004, 14:48 [QUOTE][i]. Role on the NWFF drivers B-B-Q..... I don't think they'd taste that good, theres a bit more meat on the mechanics !!!!LOL Werewolf 3 Feb 2004, 19:03 Dont want to offend anyone but who was moose? GolddustMini 3 Feb 2004, 19:08 nah mechanics are useless for nutrition, there 97% tea you know... kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 19:11 I would have put it at 97% something else - or is that drivers? diz 3 Feb 2004, 19:14 Originally posted by Werewolf Dont want to offend anyone but who was moose? No offence taken. Moose was Colin Benn, a big bloke with mutton chop whiskers and a very good friend, helper, advisor etc to numerous FF1600 folk. He died in 2002, when a heart bypass went pearshaped. He was a very popular bloke [something I will never aspire to] and from the comments on various threads, you can see how popular he was - and missed he is. BTW Werewolf, I believe you are joining in with the NW boys and girls this year. Are you willing to divulge who you are yet? Walshy 3 Feb 2004, 19:56 I hope we have no full moons on the Anglesey weekends..... kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 20:18 I beg your pardon? I'm sure nobody would do that. blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 20:37 Diz I hope you also buy Earl Grey for us seasoned tea drinkers? kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 21:01 What buying about a set of corner weight scales. They are pretty substantial, not many people have them, and using them will make your car better. I think it's a good idea (but then I would, wouldn't I, having suggested it) and would help bridge the gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots'. It would benefit all the competitors and help them understand the setup of their cars better. They would be faster, more consistent and wear their tyres out less. However, they would lose one excuse from that big fat book called 'Why I didn't win today.' I know that when we bought a set, it was amazing what we learnt about the car. And it would certainly help the folk who are struggling with budget as once you have access them, it cost nowt to run them. Having said, a token charge of, say a fiver to use them would help pay for Diz's cakes. GolddustMini 3 Feb 2004, 21:44 thats a pretty good idea andy, they are mighty pricey thats for sure! alan - you one for the old persons tea's as well *sips his earl grey using the correct little finger lifted stance* kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 21:54 Corner weight scales are about £1k, less 50% if bought from DT. diz 3 Feb 2004, 22:16 No, not buying CW Scales. We just need them to form a queue outside your awning KD [red Swift No.46], they can use yours. You can sit in a picnic chair and collect your own £5 token charges. It will help you to raise Jnr Jnr's budget  kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 22:54 OK Diz, we'll just keep our performance advantage then. An awning won't make the racing closer, or are we trying to form a social club? I don't want to be funny, but if you have time to go socialising during a race nmeeting, then you are neglecting your car. And why the categoric refusal? All I was suggesting was to obtain a fundemental peice of equipment that would be available for all to use. Pre booked per meeting on a rota basis, it would enable better prepared cars to race closer. Mind you, a tent.... bored now blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 23:17 just as long as its in a proper china cup I dont mind Jamie. We could have a nice tea service for £1000 very civilised. blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 23:23 Here is an Idea we could get our Diz a uniform like they used to wear in the old tea shops Moose would like that me thinks!!!! diz 3 Feb 2004, 23:44 Originally posted by kartingdad OK Diz, we'll just keep our performance advantage then. An awning won't make the racing closer, or are we trying to form a social club? Andy, not a social club, but a friendly series with a focal point. Anyway it is only forum chat that seems to be talking awnings etc. No decisions are made yet. And another thing, without the centre, I probably wouldn't get to see Diane on her brew runs. Mind you, a tent.... bored now All work and no play etc. Close racing doesn't seem to be a problem anyway. I await your 'post pub run ramblings' tomorrow night. If you have time to go socialising during the close season then you are neglecting your car. LOL blue nose 3 Feb 2004, 23:52 Diz how about an annexe for the Moose house of tea so you can serve burgers and bacon butties to go with the tea . Sorry to go of subject but do we have to pay for this exellent service? diz 3 Feb 2004, 23:55 No, but odd donations of tea bags, coffee, biscuits and loose change etc. keep it going. kartingdad 3 Feb 2004, 23:59 Er Diz, last season we had no. 4 on the car, this year who knows? Anyway all (well nearly all, queue formers will be informed, in the words of a close pal of mine who is a GP and who writes on his patients med. records, - TTFO) blue nose 4 Feb 2004, 00:00 But Mr Cleggs camp provided this service,Is he the main competition or is the House of Moose far superior? blue nose 4 Feb 2004, 00:03 But DR Shipman is not with us any more diz 4 Feb 2004, 00:06 1. It was the same for Kevin Nolan at Bolton last year. This year he is top scorer!! Walshy 4 Feb 2004, 22:40 Evening all. After campaigning the Awning, I think the corner weight scales is a great idea, with one draw back. Whilst a good intention, these sort of things tend to go the way of the pear when you have at least 30 cars wanting to use them and you know what it's like, the same people always seem to hog them. If it could be controlled well, then yes. Stop the football chat. Out for some major fun and laughs this year and we should get some of that for sure. It would be good to run with Dave, but I think he is going National this year with his other commitments, but I did say that I might have the odd play day with him if there is a space in the truck. blue nose 6 Feb 2004, 01:59 Who is Mitch? Redracer77 30 Dec 2004, 00:05 what did the marshals get? Mark Mitchell 30 Dec 2004, 01:14 what did the marshals get? Well, first we were taken to Pizza Express in Macc for a slap up meal, then Pikey took us all bowling and on for a few beers afterwards. He then gave us some money to toddle off with a loose woman for half an hour before plying us with more booze. Money well spend I thought! :) KIDDING blue nose 30 Dec 2004, 02:41 Well spent Mark.....I gave it to the lads and lasses at the start of the season well the dinner dance as I think they deserve it more than us for the work and effort the boys and girls put in. and I may do it again at the next dance. Mark Mitchell 30 Dec 2004, 11:09 Alan, I feel truly humbled by the gesture. Do the rest of the Marshals know that this was given for their benefit? This is the first I have heard of this. Reading all the previous threads, I had silently hoped that the money would have been spent on the Race centre - an awning or similar to provide a place where you & your fellow drivers could socialise, be briefed, fed, watered etc. I have been a supporter of the NWFF (FF in general really) for the whole of my marshalling "Career" and have got to know a few of you personally over the years. I look forward to the new season and to meeting more of you folks - preferably in the paddock! :0beer: |
