Give half to the drivers and then half to the marshals as they could do with new overals etc.

They spend a lot of time helping us so maybe we should help them as well......

Perhaps the BRSCC could give them some money instead of us - they have enough of ours after all. I reckon I must have paid for about 4 blazers at least last year alone!

How about an awning of some description for the race centre?

If we just split the money up, it wont go far and will soon be forgotton. It should be spent on somthing that lasts long-term. That way we would all appreciate more.

Thank you to whoever made the donation and I agree with Jnr Jnr what ever the money is used for, it should be for the benefit of all the drivers and something that will stand the test of time.

Now,exactly what that should be, is a good question.

How about a spare engine is bought??? It would have to be first come first served basis if it was needed, and who ever used it would put an agreed amount into a kitty to have it re built at the end of the season?? The engine could only be available to people who are registered members of the series.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not...any thoughts on somthing similar to this idea??

We already have a spare championship engine - first come, first served, via Neil Bold.
dhart has come up with a good suggestion that would benefit the drivers and the memory of Moose. It isn't anything to do with the Race Centre though. More news when more thought has gone into it.

Not a bad idea at first glance but I think Neil Bold has a"floating" engine for use at most rounds available from Dave Hart.

Another thought that just come to mind: how about a donation towards the rescue unit for equipment or the medical centre? God forbid any of us will need the latter but being formula ford drivers, most of us have used the former!

Athgoe, Have you thought about jumping on a ferry and doing any of the Anglesey double headers - especially the Leinster MC one. It would be less 'trailer driving miles' than nipping up the Naas Road [M7 is it?] to Mondello

It would'nt be fair on the NW guys getting beet on there own soil. Ill see, i have 17 race's between mondello and kirkistown and then brand's and silverstone W.H.T, i was going to do the king of the kents champ if kirkistown was included and a few others were intrested to but it didnt happen so ill have more time for my guniess goldustmini

Very nice gesture, what about really nice permanent trophies for each class for each years champion? (With replicas to keep) Imagine the names on them in, say, 20 years time?

Good idea Mike...a moose trophy that could be kept for a year with all the winners names engraved on it a permanant memory for Colin.

Too late Alan. You missed a lot in your two year sabbatical. We already have a very nice Moose Trophy. Stuart Gough was the inaugural winner at last years Anglesey Moose Trophy race.

As a witty aside - and before Sprocket comes on to mention it himself - our tame commentator made a boo boo [not his inaugural one, I hasten to add] at the first ever car meeting at Anglesey about six years ago.

There wasn't a commentary position at the time and he was set up on the grass opposite the pits, commentating out of his Renault Clio. I was acting as a kind of Martin Brundle to his James Allen.

As he switched on his kit, he burst into full Sproston flow with the immortal words "Good afternoon and welcome to the FIRST INAUGURAL race meeting at Anglesey Circuit" I then made my first correction of the day, asking him when the second inaugural meeting would be.

On another occasion at Oulton, talking about a Monoposto race, he said something along the lines of "... followed by 'Bloggs in the only Van Diemen in the race". diz pointed a quizical finger up towards a second Van Diemen coming over Hill Top. Richard continued "and 'Soap' in another one" BTW, there were a few VDs' in the race.

Methinks he is worthy of his own "I remember when Sprocket said this" thread.

We all know that the Moose Race Centre is a great idea, but we can be prone to getting very wet if the weather turns sour. I was recently in Costco and they had this giant awning. Really easy to put up. It's about 20feet x 10feet. It has sides all around and the best of it is, it only costs £130 + VAT. You could put the race centre and all the tables and chairs under it. It would also give us a social club at Anglesey for us all to hang out in the evening..
Just a thought.

With regards to helping the Marshall's, I agree the BRSCC should be doing more for them. The donation was for the racing series, so it should be used towards that.

Thats a good Idea Chris I saw one of those awnings in there today I never saw how small it folded down too.

I've got one that we already use as an awning.
The big problem is holding it down if it's windy. Trust me, it can be a big problem - I used to run a company that hired marquees and portal frame structures.
When you have seen 15m wide x 40m long structure lift off the ground you will worry.
I don't want to be neggy, but they can be a bit of a liability, especially if you cant tie them down.

I usually attach one side to our van, the other side to the trailer and if it's breezy overnight, take the legs off and tie the centre roof bars to the race car.

Apart from that, they are a doddle!

Walshy, I don't know how to do the PM thing.

Basically, each nwff meeting Diz allocates each driver a number and pulls one out of a hat at the drivers briefing. If you are the lucky driver, at the end of the season, I submit your name to Teng, you phone them up and claim £50 worth of tools.

All you have to do is carry a couple of Teng stickers on your car (in contrasting colours eg no black stickers on a black car) to qualify.

I have to say, the more sponsors you have on your car, the more pro the series and you look.

Yet another major benefit of racing in the NWFF series.

The awning idea is a good idea, im sure someone else already mentioned it though on page one.....

An e-z up style awning would be within budget.... i think swift has one so he could fill us in of the merits of these devices.

Back on the awning. The Ez-up are great, but too over priced. This awning can fit in the Moose unit and with regards to holding it down, I am sure we can all lend a spare wheel or two per meeting to tie it to. It can also be lashed to the Moose centre so it won't be going anywhere. It really is a robust bit of kit. The poles are like lightweight versions of scaffold pole. We could practically get us all under at Anglesey. Role on the NWFF drivers B-B-Q.....

Meant to add. One of my mates borrowed one for a B-B-Q in his garden. It took two people approx 10 minutes to put it together. Maybe Diz could get someone to do Transfers for the roof and sides with the 'Moose' decals as well as associate sponsors and the generous individual who put the money forward.

What buying about a set of corner weight scales. They are pretty substantial, not many people have them, and using them will make your car better. I think it's a good idea (but then I would, wouldn't I, having suggested it) and would help bridge the gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots'.

It would benefit all the competitors and help them understand the setup of their cars better. They would be faster, more consistent and wear their tyres out less.However, they would lose one excuse from that big fat book called 'Why I didn't win today.'

I know that when we bought a set, it was amazing what we learnt about the car.

And it would certainly help the folk who are struggling with budget as once you have access them, it cost nowt to run them.

Having said, a token charge of, say a fiver to use them would help pay for Diz's cakes.

Evening all. After campaigning the Awning, I think the corner weight scales is a great idea, with one draw back. Whilst a good intention, these sort of things tend to go the way of the pear when you have at least 30 cars wanting to use them and you know what it's like, the same people always seem to hog them. If it could be controlled well, then yes.

Well, first we were taken to Pizza Express in Macc for a slap up meal, then Pikey took us all bowling and on for a few beers afterwards.

He then gave us some money to toddle off with a loose woman for half an hour before plying us with more booze.
Money well spend I thought! :)

Well spent Mark.....I gave it to the lads and lasses at the start of the season well the dinner dance as I think they deserve it more than us for the work and effort the boys and girls put in. and I may do it again at the next dance.

Alan, I feel truly humbled by the gesture. Do the rest of the Marshals know that this was given for their benefit? This is the first I have heard of this.
Reading all the previous threads, I had silently hoped that the money would have been spent on the Race centre - an awning or similar to provide a place where you & your fellow drivers could socialise, be briefed, fed, watered etc.
I have been a supporter of the NWFF (FF in general really) for the whole of my marshalling "Career" and have got to know a few of you personally over the years.
I look forward to the new season and to meeting more of you folks - preferably in the paddock!
