Andrew Kitson 17 Feb 2004, 12:18 Are any 'ten-tenthers' attending the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry this coming Friday-Saturday-Sunday (20th-22nd)?
By all accounts all stand space is sold and most of the historic racing fraternity will attend. I was at Gary Pearson's race shop yesterday where his Group C Jaguar was receiving a final polish ready for the show.
As I have posted in the art forum, I will be there Saturday only on Steve Bradley's "Art,Antiques & Autos" stand ( no.500) where some of my original work will be displayed, including the large oil on canvas "Ronnie Remembered" of Peterson in classic JPS Lotus 72 'Woodcote' pose.
Look forward to meeting old friends and members that would like to pop by for a chat.
Yep, I'll be there late Saturday and all Sunday. (Why oh why did the Pomeroy Trophy have to clash with it!)
Andrew Kitson 17 Feb 2004, 12:55 I guess these clashes will occur more often Tim, with the boom in historic racing. Hence a gathering such as this dedicated to the nostalgic side of our sport.
simon drabble 17 Feb 2004, 12:57 I will be there for the H and H auction on Saturday - it should be a great show I am taking my son - I hope there will be enough demo's etc to keep a 12 yr old amused otherwise I will have to leave early!!
GoThatWay 17 Feb 2004, 13:02 The HRCR/BHRC are doing some demonstration rally stages - should keep any 12-year old with petrol in his/her veins sufficiently occupied !!!
Bernard

Andrew Fellowes 18 Feb 2004, 04:55 Yes?
Phillip Island, Pit G38, 27th 28th 29th Feb.
very welcome.
just leave the rain & snow behind thanks
As this is the first Racing Industry show especially devoted to historic racing, the hopes are high for a great turnout.
Be sure to stop by the Chevron Racing Ltd. stand 168 (I think)- with a bit of luck, they'll have their new website up and running and available for display.
The International Historic Motorsport Show is not just a static exhibition. Some of the 'activity' highlights:
An Auction of important cars, motorcycles and motorsport memorabilia by H&H Classic Auctions.
On Saturday 21 February; A Live Rally Stage with drivers like Stig Blomqvist, Pentti Airikkala, Tony Fall, Russell Brookes and Rosemary Smith in action.
Saturday and Sunday 21/22 February; Motorsport Business Briefings on such topical matters as the new FIA Historic Passports, government support for the motorsport industry and race circuit economics.
The inaugural Historic Motorsport Awards Charity Dinner on Saturday 21 February, hosted by Amanda Stretton, with Stuart Turner as guest speaker.
lifeline-fire 18 Feb 2004, 09:46 I will be there stand No 2 (Lifeline fire & Safety Systems)
Although Im more than likely to be found around the other stands looking for pictures etc to fill the walls of the house, office, garage etc etc
Mackmot 18 Feb 2004, 10:58 I meant Kitson....
zefarelly 18 Feb 2004, 11:52 grrr . . .I really wanted to attend this show, but I must finish building my car . . . .so I'm going to have to miss it unfortunately :(
Bishop Ranter 18 Feb 2004, 16:31 I will be there Friday to meet a man about Cooper drum brakes before scurrying back to Silverstone for a meeting at the BRDC. Here's to a great show that demonstrates the importance of historic motorsport in the scheme of things. Let's hope that it is recognised that most competitors are amateurs and as a consequence we cannot afford to be priced out of the market in terms of testing and enty fees. Very few historic motorsport cometitors enjoy or are allowed sponsorship.
Andrew Kitson 18 Feb 2004, 16:39 see you there mackmot
Comtec Renault 18 Feb 2004, 21:32 Andrew Sam and I may come on Sat then go to the Motorhome show at the NEC on Sunday, first its off to Thruxton for two days of Renault testing, btw I have not got your answer yet on the painting!!
Andrew Kitson 18 Feb 2004, 22:08 Cheers Jonathan, hope to see you there. Let us know 'what' when ready.
Andrew Kitson 19 Feb 2004, 21:06 Just got back from setting up - looks great, many gorgeous cars!
Chris Griffin 20 Feb 2004, 09:31 I'm off up there today (Friday). Will report back Later.
MIKE HEATH 20 Feb 2004, 09:59 I'm there Saturday & hopefully Sunday. You guys back it sound better than I was expecting!
Riley Imp 20 Feb 2004, 21:49 It really is a good show. Interesting trade stands with good technology and people willing to help with advice. Better not advertise, but do go and see. AON have a large area given over to letting different clubs exhibit a car. VSCC have a funny red thing that was not in my Bill Boddy spotters guide to Vintage cars. Chap standing next to me said, " I'm not sure which 3 out of 5 makes this thing eligible."
Chris.
Riley Imp 20 Feb 2004, 22:07 On the other site, Lister is asking the question, " Where were the VSCC?" Errrr..rr, Lister. The signs infront of each of the cars on the AON stand, and there were some nice cars there, showed the sponsor for each car. The low red thing with wings, Shell badge etc., mentioned above, was the VSCC "STAND". The BOC had a Type 59, Brooklands society the Pacey Hassan Bentley. You know, those things called vintage cars, all in my spotters book.
Chris.
Bishop Ranter 20 Feb 2004, 22:24 I saw very little in the way of what actually was on the stands...just kept bumping into old friends and chatting about the season ahead which is a great thing to do. The ambience was really good. Very friendly and much more to my taste than Autosport. Recommend a visit.
The one stand where I did rest was the Cooper and FJHRA. What a friendly group of people. So pleased I but one.
Roll the first race....
BugEyed 20 Feb 2004, 22:25 The VSCC would never allow the use of *****fibre, cars with only a few original components (anyone see an engine or gearbox?), electronic ignition, alternators, self-locking diffs, wheels of less than 16" diameter, radial tyres, or sponsorship on the cars.
Standards must be maintained. :p
Duncan
PS See you, lots of other club members, and a few Vintage Cars tomorrow at the Pom!
Mackmot 20 Feb 2004, 22:52 I went today instead so I wont see you tomorrow Andrew
josvandeperre 23 Feb 2004, 17:50 Does the lack of comment mean everyone was underwhelmed ?
Everyone who came to my stand said they were impressed as was i.
Jase
Andrew Kitson 23 Feb 2004, 18:38 Great show and good to meet some forum members.
I heard that it was a great turnout on all 3 days and lots of activity for the vendors.
falcemob 23 Feb 2004, 19:30 If i'd have gone it would have been rubbish, but I didn't so it must have been excellent.
PaulSands 24 Feb 2004, 10:35 I couldn't get due to family/home committments (I cannot begin to tell you how utterly ****ed off I was) but my dad went on the Saturday and said it was one of the best shows he'd seen

Certainly hope you don't Clive:p
johngee 25 Feb 2004, 17:46 I was there for all 3 days. Was knocked out by the quality of the whole show and everybody that I spoke to agreed that it had the same atmosphere as the old 'Racing Car Shows'. I hope that the organisers were sufficiently pleased with the attendance to go ahead with it again next year. If they do, DON'T MISS IT!
Richy_Rich 25 Feb 2004, 18:11 I enjoyed it very much. Bought some bits, bumped into a bunch of people (some of whom I knew ;) ) Certainly on my calendar for next year.
